Swim, bike, and run to support Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh! Open to young athletes of all ability levels*, ages 7-15. The Habitat Pittsburgh Youth Triathlon is designed to be both accessible for newcomers and competitive for experienced young athletes.
Our family-friendly race includes additional activities like a tie-dye and Lego build stations for participants and sibling spectators. All finishers receive a medal and trophies are awarded to the top three for each gender and age bracket.
*Must be able to swim, bike, and run independently.
Event details and schedule
Race Course
Habitat Pittsburgh’s Youth Triathlon race course is age-dependent. The full course map and details are available at habitatyouthtri.org. On race day, athletes should arrive at 7am for check-in/registration. A brief opening ceremony will begin at 7:45am, and the first heat will start at 8am.

Pre-Race Info Meeting
A Pre-Race Information meeting will be held the evening before the race – Friday, July 17 at 6:00pm at the North Park Pool. You'll get a preview of the course and our Race Director will be onsite to answer any questions. This info meeting is not required, but is recommended for first-time participants.

For 25 years, the Youth Triathlon has supported Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh’s affordable homeownership and home repair programs for low-income families. Athletes are encouraged to fundraise to support our mission to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. All athlete fundraisers will receive a discount code for next year's Youth Triathlon, plus the top three fundraisers receive a gift card from Pro Bike+Run! Start your fundraiser by clicking here.

** Refunds unavailable. Any canceled registrations will be considered a donation to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh.
*** There will be no rain date if this event is canceled due to inclement weather. All registration fees will be considered a donation to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh. We will make every effort to work around any adverse weather conditions on race day, through adjusting start times as necessary. (We have never had to cancel the event due to weather.)

The Fall Mighty Moraine Multi Sport Event will host the Pennsylvania State Triathlon Championships on August 15 and 16, 2026 and will include an Olympic Distance Triathlon, Relay, and Aqua bike on August 16 and the Sprint Triathlon, Sprint Adventure Race, Sprint Duathlon, Sprint Aqua bike, High School Sprint Triathlon, Sprint Relay, Novice Sprint Triathlon and Super Sprint Races on August 16.
Our Youth Triathlon will be Saturday evening, August 15 at 4:00 PM.
All races are sanctioned by USA Triathlon.

WHERE: This family friendly event will take place in beautiful North Park at the Harmar Pavilion (located up from the North Park Swimming Pool on South Ridge Drive)

WHEN: The 1 Mile Fun run will begin at 6:00 PM and the 5K will begin at 6:30 PM, on Friday, September 11th, 2026.

THE COURSES: The 5K Course is a two-loop, wheel measured, 5K road race starting and ending on South Ridge Drive across from Harmar Pavilion and Pie Traynor Field. The Kids' 1-Mile Fun Run (ages 14 and under) will be a shorter loop that follows part of the 5K course.
