Cornerstone 100 Lake Erie Bicycle Tour

    “Pedal with a Purpose”

Introducing the “Cornerstone 100 Battle at the Border Cycling Challenge”:

In 2025, 124 cyclists participated in the Cornerstone 100 with 80% (99 cyclists) from Michigan,17%(22 cyclists) from Ohio, and 3% collectively from 4 other states. A heartfelt thank you to all participants, donors, and generous sponsors for making our event a success.

Here’s the Battle: "The Michigan-Ohio rivalry is the definition of blood-feud, stretching back to the border-disputed 'Toledo War' of 1835. For nearly two centuries, it’s been a bitter battle for bragging rights across football, hockey, basketball and beyond. But now, it’s time to move the competition to two wheels. On 9/12/26, the rivalry takes to the road—it’s time for the cyclists to decide who dominates!

Here’s the Purpose: The Cornerstone 100 Lake Erie Bicycle Tour, held in Monroe County, Michigan and located approximately 12 miles from the Ohio State Line, is the only organized ride in the State of Michigan that can claim this distinction!

Each year a community project is chosen that supports non-motorized transportation or related projects. In 2024, $2,000 from ride proceeds was donated to purchase four bicycles for the 4-H Slow Spokes program where students ride 120 miles from Monroe County to East Lansing to participate in MSU's Exploration Days. In 2025, $3,000 from ride proceeds was donated toward the purchase of a trishaw, for Saint Therese's IHM Senior Living “Cycling Without Age” program. A trishaw is an electric-assist vehicle with a passenger seat that enables seniors to have a comfortable, safe and engaging outdoor experience.

This year’s "Pedal with a Purpose” is to contribute to both Michigan and Ohio’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advocacy Groups. In Michigan, it’s the League of Michigan Bicyclists. In Ohio, it’s Ohio Bicycle Federation.

These two non-profit organizations work tirelessly advocating at the state and local level for bicycle-friendly legislation, supporting organizations with a shared mission, developing educational materials and forums, and encouraging the activities involving the use of bicycles.

Here’s how you can help your State’s organization win the “Battle at the Border”
