  • Marsh Madness 10K [runsignup.com]

    Sat, Jun 20, 2026 at 8:30 AM

Come on out and run (or walk) a unique 10K race at the 1,000 acre Howard Marsh Metropark and then enjoy some post-race kayaking or canoeing. The 10K course on the gravel trails on top the marsh dikes

is flat, fast, and scenic. The marsh is also home to unique plants, many types of birds, and lots of other wildlife. After the race, you can launch your kayak, canoe, or paddle board and explore the marsh's eight miles of aquatic trails for a complete "marshy" experience. Rental kayaks will be available from the Metroparks. Also whether you're a birder or not, don't forget your binoculars.

Awards in the 10K will be given to the Male and Female Overall, Masters, Grand Masters, and Senior Grand Masters winners and will consist of a unique marsh-themed sun catcher and gift card from Second Sole running store. All finishers will receive a finisher medal and additional giveaway. There will be no age group awards.

In order to reduce trash and protect the marsh from litter, the race will not use paper cups. For hydration, runners can carry a handheld water bottle, wear a hydration vest, or carry a reusable, collapsible cup that can be filled at the water station. Runners will pass the water station twice at approximately 3.3 and 5.7 miles. Free collapsible cups will be made available to runners at packet pick-up.

Early packet pick-up will be on Thursday June 18 from 2-8 pm and Friday June 19 from 10 am-6 pm at Second Sole running store in Levi’s Commons, Perrysburg, OH. Race day packet pick-up will be from 7:30-8:15 am at the event.

The free collapsible cups are provided by HydraPak, our Sustainable Racing Partner. As part of your entry to this event, HydraPak is also offering a 20% discount on all of their products at HydraPak.com. The 20% discount code will be made available to registered runners by email prior to the event.

The Marsh Madness 10K is the first race in the Toledo Roadrunners-Metroparks Toledo Trail Race Series. The other three races are the Towpath Trail 10K and Half Marathon at Providence Dam Metropark on July 19, the Oak Openings Stampede 5K and 25K at Oak Openings Metropark on September 13, and Falling Leaves 5K and 8-miler at Secor Metropark on October 25.

If you are a current Toledo Roadrunners member, you will receive a $5.00 discount on the entry price of any of the Trail Series races. If you sign up for all four races at once, you will receive a $2.00 discount on each entry regardless of TRRC membership. You will also be awarded a nice Trail Race Series giveaway at the end of the series.

Proceeds from the events support SewHope, a Toledo-based not-for-profit organization that provides health, education, and community development support to the poor in northern Guatemala.

You can also donate directly to SewHope and/or the Toledo Metroparks when you register here.

  • Ann Arbor Firecracker 5K: Run, Walk, or Ruck [runsignup.com]

    Sat, Jul 04, 2026 at 8:00 AM

Kick off your Fourth of July the Epic Races way: join us in downtown Ann Arbor on the 4th of July for our classic Firecracker 5K: Run, Walk, or Ruck! Our 3.1-mile course gets underway at a truly red,

white, and blue locale: the intersection of Liberty and 4th... where else would you start a race on the 4th of July? Racers then loop around downtown and come in for a spectacular star-spangled finish in front of thousands of spectators.

    2025 Schedule of Events:

    6:30 AM — Packet Pick-Up and Race-Day Registration open

    7:45 AM — Packet Pick-Up and Race-Day Registration close

7:47 AM — Hot dog eaters to the stage

7:50 AM — Pacers to line up

    7:52 AM — Remarks

    7:55 AM — Nation Anthem

    8:00 AM — 200-meter Kids’ Dash

    8:05 AM — Ruckers Start

8:08 AM — Hot Dog Eating

    8:10 AM — 5K Start

8:20 AM — 1 Mile Fun Run Start

Add an all-American angle to your outing by opting for one of our 3 special holiday divisions:

    ☆It's Back for 2026☆

Rucking Division: Rucking is simply walking or hiking while carrying a weighted rucksack or backpack. It is a staple of military training, as soldiers must be able to carry weapons, food and other supplies for long distances. Embrace an even HEAVIER challenge when you sign up for the Ruck Division.

The Flag Carrying Division: Participants in this patriotic category will run or walk their 5K proudly bearing a mounted 3 x 5 American flag from start to finish.

Hot Dog Eating Division: It’s simply not the Fourth of July without hot dogs, and those who choose this challenge — up to 20 competitors — will try to chow down on four dogs in 76 seconds, then get their 5K underway. Consider it our version of the world-famous Nathan’s Hot-Dog Eating Contest, which is held annually in New York City every Independence Day.

Don't have the time for 5K? Try our timed 1-Mile Fun Run! A fun, friendly course awaits runners and walkers of all ages who want to show their Firecracker fervor but with a little less mileage. Whether you choose to make it competitive or relaxed, enjoy this frolic through downtown on the 4th of July!

Our littlest firecrackers are invited to make a bang all their own in our Kids’ 200-Meter Dash. Open to competitors ages 8 and under, our Kids’ Dash offers children the opportunity soar like eagles down Liberty Street, completing their race at the same finish line as Mom or Dad!

Kids can continue celebrating Independence Day at the corner of State and William, where they can take part in the Epic Races float in the Ann Arbor Jaycees' 4th of July parade (accompanied by a parent or guardian)!

The Firecracker 5K is walker friendly!

Sunglasses and medals for all participants in all divisions!

    Zero Waste

The event is a Leave No Trace event. Learn more about our race-day recycling and composting efforts here. Want more information about running a great race and leaving no trace? Click here to visit Happy Planet Running!
