    The race is a 5K run/walk beginning and ending on the Lakeside High School track and running through local neighborhoods! This race is a Peachtree race qualifier!

    • All proceeds of the Viking 5K will support the Lakeside H.S. Foundation programs to enhance education, athletics and the arts at Lakeside High School.

    • We’ve opened up a friendly competition between Lakeside teams/groups. When filling out the registration, please select the team/group you are representing. Winning group will receive bragging rights for 2025 and possibly some door prizes!

    Race Date: 8AM – Saturday, January 24, 2026

    Where: Lakeside High School Track, 3801 Briarcliff Rd., Atlanta, GA 30345

    Event details and schedule

    Race Day Details

    • Registration/packet pickup begins at 7:00 a.m. on the track.

    • Warm up exercises provided by Team Rehab at 7:45am

    • Race start time - 8 a.m.

    • The course will be open 1 hour 40 minutes. That is 14 min 30 sec pace per mile.

    Awards/Drawings:

    Awards will begin at 9:15 a.m. in the following categories:

    • Top Overall Male/ Female

    • Masters Male/Female

    Drawings for great door prizes from the sponsors will be given as well.

    Timing: The race will be timed. Results will be posted online immediately after.

    Weather: The event will happen rain or shine.

    Refunds: There are no refunds or transfers.

    The Greyhound Gallop is an official qualifier for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race.

    All proceeds support campus improvements at Garrison Mill Elementary School.

    PARKING

    On-site parking is reserved for volunteers & vendors. Shuttles will be running from Wesley Chapel UMC beginning at 7am. The final shuttle will return to Wesley Chapel UMC at 10am. Please refrain from parking on the grass or in surrounding neighborhoods.

    Run5k International Women’s Independence is more than a celebration—it is a community investment in the future of women in sport and part of Atlanta 5K #RUN Independence Series.

    Our goal for 2026 is to raise $150,000 thousand to develop and expand women’s track and field programs in Atlanta, USA, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil through BrazilNation Academy Corporation a 501(c)(3) founded by our Brazilian Olympic Athlete and Navy Sergeant, Fabiana Zaya Moraes; to guide, protect and lead the next generation of Olympic athletes and young leaders.

    Every race entry is a donation and community empowerment that directly finances and supports girls and young women by providing access to:

    1. Professional coaching and high-performance training.

    2. Scholarships for underserved athletes

    Sports equipment, uniforms, and facilities.

    The top 2 overall runners from each gender will receive a medal for the 2K race.

    The top female and male runners for each division (Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School) will receive a medal for the 5K.

    The awards ceremony will begin at 9:45 and last until 10:00. We kindly ask that all families leave campus by 10:30 so that we can begin the clean-up process.
