According to the National Institute of Deafness and Communication Disorders (2024), 37.5 million people ages 18 and over report experiencing issues with hearing. As these numbers continue to grow, the students and faculty in West Virginia University's Communication Sciences and Disorders department actively work year-round to raise public awareness about hearing loss and its prevention through various community service activities.
This year, the Student Academy of Audiology is reviving one of its most successful initiatives to raise awareness and funds in support of the local community. All proceeds will benefit the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) Student and Patient Fund, which will be used for patients with financial challenges and supports students' continuing education through conference attendance.

9:00 a.m. 5k Run/Walk
Description
One of my biggest fears is that I’ll marry into a family that runs 5k's on Thanksgiving… said none of you! Join Morgantown Running at 9:00am on Thanksgiving Day for a trot around Morgantown with your family (but please, leave your dogs at home as they are not allowed). Participants can run or walk this 5k course that begins on the blue track by the WVU Coliseum. The last approximately 2 miles will be on the rail trail heading to the finish behind the Seneca Center at Morgantown Running. There will be awards for the top 3 male and female finishers and the top male and female 5k walkers. Please remember, if you sign up to walk you can only walk, no running!
If you want to do both, please sign up for the run. There will also be random drawings for prizes from Morgantown Running. The first 1000 people registered will receive a pair of socks.
Kids under 12 are more than welcome to register for the 5k, or they can run in the 800m Turkey Fun Run at 8:30am. This race is 2 laps around the blue track (where the 5k begins) and will be done in 2 heats. Kids under 5 will be in heat 1, and kids 5-12 will be in heat 2.
