Water Safety Reminder
The Thurmond Triathlon includes a paddling segment on the New River. While the course follows a calm section of moving water, some paddling experience is recommended for safety and enjoyment. Participants should feel comfortable maneuvering a watercraft in moving water and be prepared to wear a properly fitted life jacket at all times while on the river.
Active Southern West Virginia prioritizes safety — please take time before race day to review basic paddling techniques and water safety guidelines to ensure a fun and confident experience on the water.
Proceeds Benefit:
Your participation supports Active Southern West Virginia, in providing free physical activity programs in local communities, schools, government, and workplaces across West Virginia.
