The New River Gorge Rim to Rim Race is a running road race from one rim of the New River Gorge, down to the bottom where you'll cross over the New River, then back to the rim of the other side with a short trail section to finish. This bucket list event will provide runners with breathtaking views throughout the course in the adventure sports capital of West Virginia - Fayetteville. This event is hosted by Active Southern West Virginia at Adventures on the Gorge, where racers will finish at the resorts rim side pool to enjoy a catered brunch overlooking the New River Gorge. The distance is 6 miles. Brunch is included in the registration.

The race course will begin on the south side of Fayette Station Road and finish at Adventures on the Gorge. Racers should prepare for a descent of 1300 ft and a climb of 1300 ft with the steepest point being a 20% incline - get ready to feel the Burma Burn! The finish line will bring racers to the rim of the gorge with an overlook photo opportunity. Racers are welcome to walk the course but must maintain a 20 minute mile pace to complete the event during the allotted closed road time frame. The morning of the race, racers will check in at the finish area (Adventures on the Gorge) and be provided a bus ride to the start line.

Participants should feel comfortable maneuvering a watercraft in moving water and be prepared to wear a properly fitted life jacket at all times while on the river.

Active Southern West Virginia prioritizes safety — please take time before race day to review basic paddling techniques and water safety guidelines to ensure a fun and confident experience on the water.
