    ● $49 per player (For Individual Leagues Only)

MORE ON THE MLP FORMAT :

    Major League Pickleball (MLP)

Here's a breakdown of the core MLP rules:

    1. Team Format:

Teams consist of four players (2 men, 2 women).

    1. Match Structure (The "MLPlay" Format): Each team match consists of a series of games, which are played until one team wins a majority (3 out of 5 games in total, if you include the potential DreamBreaker).

    Four Doubles Games:

    1. Women's Doubles

    2. Men's Doubles

    3. Mixed Doubles 1

    4. Mixed Doubles 2

DreamBreaker™ (Tiebreaker): If the match score is tied 2-2 after the four doubles games, a unique singles tiebreaker called the DreamBreaker is played.

    1. Scoring for Doubles Games (Women's, Men's, Mixed 1, Mixed 2):

    · Side-Out Scoring: Points can only be scored by the serving team. If the serving team wins the rally, they score a point. If the receiving team wins the rally, they get the serve, but no point.

To 11, Win by 2: Each game is played to 11 points. A team must win by a margin of at least 2 points (e.g., 11-9, 12-10).

Switch Sides: Players change ends when one team reaches 6 points.

    1. DreamBreaker™ (Skinny Singles Tiebreaker - If Match is Tied 2-2): The DreamBreaker is designed to be exciting and fast-paced.

Scoring: Rally scoring to 21 points, win by 1. A point is scored on every rally, regardless of who served.

Player Rotation: All four players from each team participate. They rotate in a set order, with each player playing four consecutive rallies before the next player from their team rotates in. The rotation continues until a winner is determined.

Example: Team A Player 1 plays 4 rallies, then Team A Player 2 plays 4 rallies, then Team A Player 3 plays 4 rallies, then Team A Player 4 plays 4 rallies, then Player 1 comes back in for another 4 rallies, and so on.

"Freeze" Rule: When a team reaches 20 points, they must win the remaining point(s) on their serve. If the receiving team wins a rally when the serving team is at 20 (or higher, but not yet at the winning score), the score for the serving team remains the same, and the serve switches. Trailing teams never "freeze."

Example: Team A is at 20 points, Team B is at 18. Team A serves. Team B wins the rally. Score remains Team A 20, Team B 18. Serve goes to Team B.

End Change: Teams change ends when one team reaches 11 points.

Lineup Declaration: The "Home" team declares their singles rotation order first. The "Away" team then declares their order, which adds a strategic element.

    1. Standings Points (for League Play): This system rewards teams for winning, and also for taking matches to the DreamBreaker.

    Wins = 1 team point

    Dream breaker =1point

We accumulate total points for seeding for last wk of play

    1. Home Court Advantage: In MLP, the "Home" team (determined by the schedule) gets strategic advantages:

*The first team listed on the bracket is the home team for each wk. Everyone will get equal home team advantages. Away team declares mixed double line up before first game of mixed. The home team gets to match what mixed doubles team up as they see fit.

*Same for the dream breaker, the away team has to declare their line up and the home team gets to plan who matches up with who.

    1. Serve Rules (Standard USAP Rules Apply, with Some Specifics):

Volley Serve Allowed: Players can use the volley serve (ball tossed and hit in the air)

    Legal Serve Motion:

*Ball release must be visible to the referee.

*Ball release no higher than the top of the shoulder.

*Paddle swing must be upward motion when the ball is struck.

*The highest point of the paddle head must be clearly below the highest point of the wrist when striking the ball.

*Any serve hitting the net and landing in the correct service box is a "Let" and is re-

*One time out per match. 60sec

These rules aim to make MLP matches dynamic, strategic, and exciting for players and spectators alike.
