Sat, Jul 04, 2026 at 8:30 AM
The 49th annual Pow Wow Days 5K, 10K, 1 Mile Fun Runs take place in conjunction with the annual 4th of July Lion's Day Festivities in Tomahawk. All races depart from Veterans Memorial Park on the
beautiful Wisconsin River. Click HERE for a Google Earth Map of all race routes and details. The 10K is run on a scenic route along the river towards the turn around point atop beautiful Kings Hill just past the historic Kings Dam. The 5K looped course is basically flat and follows the 10K route for approximately 2400 meters then cuts across the edge of the Tomahawk High School property and back to School Road before running into Somo Ave then back to Memorial Park on 6th St. The Mile Fun Run is also a looped course for all ages, however awards are only for those 12 and under. 5K/10K races start at 8:30 AM sharp and the Mile Fun Run begins around 9:30 AM, after the majority of the 5K participants have finished.
Pre-registrant bib and t-shirt pick-up for all races starts at 7:00 AM under the gazebo in the park. Pre-registration will end at Noon on Thursday, July 3rd. Race day registration station closes at 8:15 AM for the 5k & 10k and 9:15 AM for the 1-Mile Fun Run, with no guaranteed t-shirt. So, save money and get a t-shirt by registering early. Please note that T-Shirts are only guaranteed with registrations before 6/12/2026. A limited supply of shirts will be available for purchase on race day.
The last few years we have had between 600-700 participants! Once again we will have a July 4th Independence Day "Most Patriotic" costume contest with prizes for the runners with the top three outfits. The top one-hundred 10K finishers are guaranteed to receive a finishers 10K medal in the finish chute. The top three finishers in each age group for the 5K and 1-mile Fun Run will receive medals that will be available at the awards table under the gazebo. There will be refreshments in the finishing corral for race finishers provided by Northwoods Vineyard Church. Please remember that 5K and 10K races will start together. Eventually the races lead to a Y-intersection where the 5K runners take a sharp right turn onto school grounds and 10K runners go left continuing on King Road.
**Reminder-->There will not be an Awards Ceremony, instead awards for the 5k and Fun Run can be picked up after you finish your race at the Awards Table which will be located under the gazebo. Please ensure you have your race bib with you, as the awards volunteer will need to verify your place with the Pttiming live results strictly using your bib number. Award winners in the 10k will receive their award in the finish chute.
**In case of inclement weather the tentative plan would be to run the race the next day. Please check your email and listen to the local radio station (WJJQ 92.5) for updates.

The Miners Revenge takes you deep into the mountain and through the pits of ancient miners who spent their lives chasing the red metal. Some say the men who died still live in the mine protecting
their claim, we can’t say that’s true but we can say that anything can happen when you are 300 feet below the surface and there’s nobody to hear you scream.
Cross Country , DH, and Enduro Races!
Be warned this is not your grandfather's XC race! Steep climbs, gnarly rock, rolling singletrack, fun descents, and riding with bats. The race takes place at the Adventure Mine in Greenland, MI. Part of the each lap is through the underground mine. Because of the total darkness, a GOOD light is required for the XC and Enduro Races.
Lodging: SoKe purchases a temporary camping permit for the event. You can register for rustic tent and RV sites in our RunSignUp Store. If you have any additional questions or a specific need, please contact [email protected] or reach out to us via our Facebook page.
Race swag for everyone who registers by May 22nd!

This event is born from years of competing in meets across the country and inspired by the strong tradition of distance-focused track events right here in Wisconsin. Our goal is simple (and slightly
obsessive): to create a meet centered around the mile.
Athletes of all ages and abilities are welcome, from K–12 runners to collegiates, pros, and masters. Events will range from a fun 400 meters for our youngest competitors to the featured one-mile race, covering just over four laps around Hatchet Field on a recently renovated track surface inside a completely updated stadium. Yes, it’s technically more than four laps. No, we didn’t do the math wrong. Welcome to track.
While the competition is expected to be intense, the atmosphere will stay fun and relaxed. Expect fast races, loud cheers, questionable pacing decisions, and that unique mix of pain and joy only distance runners truly understand. The vibe will stay light, positive, and welcoming for athletes, spectators, and anyone who wandered in and asked, “Wait… you only run one mile?”
Supporting Hatchet Distance Running
In addition to great racing, the Hatchet Mid-Summer Mile serves a bigger purpose. Proceeds from the event directly support the distance runners of the Hatchet cross country and track programs. Funds raised will help provide new uniforms and warmups (because mismatched gear is not rizz worthy), upgraded training and racing equipment, and resources to host higher-quality home meets. That means flags that are actually yellow, course markings that are straight (and not suspiciously crooked), and equipment that makes it look like we knew what we were doing when we set everything up.
In other words, the opportunity for growth is endless, and we just want to give our student-athletes the best experience possible while also providing competition for the athletes of all kinds especially from right here in the Northwoods.
A lot more information is coming soon, including the event schedule, sponsors, registration details, shirts, awards, and maybe food trucks or other vendors to reward you after you’ve earned it. For now, be sure to mark your calendars:
Registration opens: April 18, 2026
Race day: July 11, 2026
Fast miles, good vibes, and minimal lactic acid build up. We’ll see you at Hatchet Field this summer!

This year's charity, Crandon Area Rescue, is a non-profit squad

August 1st, 2026 - Join us for the second annual Loon Ride at the Mercer Bike Fest.
ICORE (Iron County Outdoor Recreation Enthusiasts) announces the inaugural Mercer Bike Fest and Loon Ride. The
event supports our fund raising efforts to expand the current Mercer bike trail from Carow Park along Hwy J to WinMan Trails ultimately completing a 26 mile loop of Mercer and Manitowish Waters as part of the Heart of Vilas County trail system. In previous years this ride was known as Lupine Junefest. The volunteers who created and supported that ride did a wonderful job of building the foundation for the trail expansion project. We are proud to take up the cause. Please note: moving forward if you choose to ride and E-bike only class 1, those without throttles, are allowed for safety reasons.
Join us in our efforts by riding a 7, 24, or 50 mile route starting and ending at Carow Park on the shores of beautiful Grand Portage Lake. When you return to Carow Park stay with us for music, food and raffles. Cool off with a swim in the lake! Registration fee includes shirt, swag bag, beverage and lunch. Kids 10 and under ride FREE* when accompanied by a paid adult and do not need to register online. Kid friendly activities at the park after the ride.
For more about the Mercer bike trails and how you can play a part in completing the loop click here. This event also kicks off the week of Loon Days with the annual Loon Day Art and Craft fair on Saturday August 5th with over 250 vendors. Loon Day has been a Mercer tradition for over 45 years!
*Free riders are not eligible for T-shirt, lunch or swag bag.
