    InSayner Mountain Bike Race

A LAMBO Fundraiser for Trail Building and Maintenance in Northern Wisconsin.

Thanks for your interest in the InSayner Mountain Bike Race—a one-of-a-kind fundraising event supporting mountain bike trail development and maintenance in Northern Wisconsin.

Set in the Northern Highland–American Legion State Forest, the InSayner is three events in one, so you can choose your ideal level of “how spicy do you want this to be?”

    • 25-mile InSayner Back Country Race – big adventure, big effort, big bragging rights

    • 15-mile Swarm Adventure Race – the “highly recommended” sweet spot of challenge + fun

    • 3.5-mile No-See-Um Family Fun Ride – short, scenic, and still a little bit InSayner read the details below to pick the best match for your riding style and comfort level.

*Make sure to read the details below to pick the best match for your riding style and comfort level.

    Race Day Info

    • 8:00–9:15 AM — Bib Pickup / Check-In / Registration

    • 9:15 AM — Rider Meeting

    • 10:00 AM — 25-mile InSayner + 15-mile Swarm Starts (separate waves)

    • 10:05 AM — No-See-Um Family Fun Ride Start

    • 1:30 PM — Awards + Raffles

The No-See-Um Family Fun Ride (3.5 miles)

The No-See-Um is a short, family-friendly ride that’s great for kids, first-timers, and anyone who wants the InSayner experience without the “why are my legs negotiating with me?” moment.

It’s still the InSayner, though—so expect a dash of adventure:

    • Cross Plum Creek on a bridge on the way out

    • Cross Plum Creek again on the way back… this time without the bridge

No worries: we’ll have volunteers at the crossing to help anyone who wants it.

If you’re racing the InSayner and ask for help at the crossing, we can assist too… for an additional $50.

Just kidding. Racers don’t get help. You did sign up for the InSayner.

The Swarm Adventure Race (15 miles) — Highly Recommended

A backwoods biking adventure that mixes variety, flow, and “wait—this is still going?” in the best possible way.

Expect a little bit of everything:

    • Snowmobile trail sections

    • Fun downhill stretches

    • Logging roads, gravel, and a short bit of blacktop

    • A few surprises designed to make average riders question their life choices

But not you. You’re here on purpose.

The InSayner Back Country Race (25 miles)

The signature event: challenging, fast, and wildly fun—a course that rewards steady effort, smart pacing, and riders who can grin through the occasional gut-check.

The route starts in Sayner at the Community Center, heads out on snowmobile trails to the single track at Musky Mountain bike trails, and then winds through a true Northwoods mix of trail and backroad terrain, including stretches near Plum Vitae Road, Klondike road and Ross Lake Road, before bringing you home on snowmobile trails.

A few friendly notes from your race directors:

    • This is tough—but it’s doable if you pace yourself and keep the wheels turning.

    • There’s a cutoff: make it in time and you stay on course; miss it and you’ll take the alternate route back.

    • No dramatics required. Hydrate, fuel, and keep moving—future you will be grateful.

Come for the challenge. Stay for the community. Leave knowing your ride directly supports LAMBO trails in Northern Wisconsin.

    See you inSayner!

    Yours truly,

    Danny and Mike O.

August 1st, 2026 - Join us for the second annual Loon Ride at the Mercer Bike Fest.

ICORE (Iron County Outdoor Recreation Enthusiasts) announces the inaugural Mercer Bike Fest and Loon Ride. The event supports our fund raising efforts to expand the current Mercer bike trail from Carow Park along Hwy J to WinMan Trails ultimately completing a 26 mile loop of Mercer and Manitowish Waters as part of the Heart of Vilas County trail system. In previous years this ride was known as Lupine Junefest. The volunteers who created and supported that ride did a wonderful job of building the foundation for the trail expansion project. We are proud to take up the cause. Please note: moving forward if you choose to ride and E-bike only class 1, those without throttles, are allowed for safety reasons.

Join us in our efforts by riding a 7, 24, or 50 mile route starting and ending at Carow Park on the shores of beautiful Grand Portage Lake. When you return to Carow Park stay with us for music, food and raffles. Cool off with a swim in the lake! Registration fee includes shirt, swag bag, beverage and lunch. Kids 10 and under ride FREE* when accompanied by a paid adult and do not need to register online. Kid friendly activities at the park after the ride.

For more about the Mercer bike trails and how you can play a part in completing the loop click here. This event also kicks off the week of Loon Days with the annual Loon Day Art and Craft fair on Saturday August 5th with over 250 vendors. Loon Day has been a Mercer tradition for over 45 years!

*Free riders are not eligible for T-shirt, lunch or swag bag.
