3.5 Miles Run Swim Triathlon
Sat, Aug 01, 2026 at 8:45 AM
TITANIUM MAN JR. TRIATHLON
Race date is August 1, 2026
For 7-12 year old triathletes!
Hey kids --> It's your turn! Here is a chance to give triathlon a try. See if you’ve got what it takes to get to
the finish line…we think you can do it.
Hey parents --> Here is a chance for your young athletes to try something a little different by putting a swim, bike, and run together in one event. We have designed a safe course with plenty of adult supervision that will be fun for the kids to challenge. The 200-yard swim will be in the river in a shallow area near shore with plenty of adult swimmer support. The 4.5-mile bike leg is all on a bike path, except for a short portion in the boat ramp parking lot which will be heavily barricaded and controlled. Helmets are required during the bike ride. The 1-mile run will be completely on a foot path. 7 & 8 year olds will bike and run half of this distance.
IMPORTANT BIKE INFORMATION. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. WE WILL NO LONGER ALLOW THE USE OF LIGHTWEIGHT, MULTI-SPEED RACING BIKES WITH LIGHTWEIGHT SKINNY TIRES. THE OLDER KIDS HAVE COME TO BE TOO FAST ON THESE BIKES TO SAFELY NAVIGATE THE COURSE. ACCEPTABLE BIKES INCLUDE MOUNTAIN BIKES, SINGLE SPEED BIKES, CRUISERS, SPIDERMAN BIKES, HELLO KITTY BIKES WITH A BASKET IN FRONT...YOU KNOW, KID'S BIKES. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE BIKE YOU PLAN TO USE, SEND A DESCRIPTION AND A PHOTO TO ERIC AT [email protected].
What: It’s a triathlon that starts with a swim, goes directly into a bike, and then finishes with the run. Once the starting gun goes off, the action is non-stop and doesn’t end until the run is completed. The 9 to 12 year olds will finish a course that consists of a 200 yard swim, 4.5 mile bike and a one-mile run. The 7 and 8 year olds will do the same swim, but bike and run half the distance of the older kids.
Where: Howard Amon Park, Richland, Washington. Look for the picnic shelter in the south end of the park, on the river side of the Richland Community Center for race HQ.
Before Race Schedule: Packet pickup from 4:30 to 6:30 pm ON THURSDAY, JULY 30TH at Atomic Ale Brewpub, 1015 Lee Blvd, Richland, WA 99352.
Race Day Schedule: On race day, arrive early and be prepared for the following:
• 7:00 am – Packet pickup starts
• 8:15 am – Mandatory pre-race meeting
• 8:45 am – Race starts for the 7 and 8 year olds - 9-12 year olds start after the 7 and 8's have finished (approximately 9:15 am)
• 11:00am – Course closes
Cost: $20 per triathlete. After July 21, 2025 the cost goes up to $25 since we will be mailing you your shirt.
USAT: Every child participating in the triathlon must become a member of the USA Triathlon Federation. Membership is $10 per year, and during registration you will be guided to purchase the membership. If your child is already a card carrying member of the USAT, simply enter the membership number when prompted.
Pre-Registration: The only way to guarantee a t-shirt on race day is to register on-line before the pre-registration deadline of July 20, 2026 at 11:59 pm.
On-line Registration Deadline: July 29, 2025 and registration will close earlier if participant limit of 200 is reached.
Awards: The overall boy and girl champion in the race receives a special award, along with the top 3 boys and girls in the 7 -8, 9-10, and 11 -12 age groups. You can check the Negative Split website on your phone at www.nsplit.com/results, or look to the paper copies posted at the picnic shelter where you picked up your packet to see if you placed in your age group or were the overall winners of the race. We will have the award ceremony as soon as possible after the race.
THERE IS NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION - THE ONLY WAY TO REGISTER IS ON-LINE BY THE DATES LISTED ABOVE. NOTE: REGISTRATION IS LIMITED TO 200 PARTICIPANTS
ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS: We sympathize with life's uncertainties but there are no refunds of entry fees. Please, please, please plan accordingly.

Chip Timing: Timing chips will be used to record split and finish times. Timing chips will be distributed race morning at check-in. Be sure to turn your timing chip in at the finish line to avoid a lost chip charge. Race results will be available by Negative Split Event Timing at www.nsplit.com/results.

Volunteers: We need lots of volunteers for all our multi-sport events. If you can help at this event, please contact Eric Greager at [email protected] .
