Happy to see have you back for another year! You'll see some new, some old and somewhere in between. Keeping it around 40miles this year….but we're turning up the climbing on a few new roads.

    Why not #vermontraregravelride this Year?

    What to Expect

This is not a Race, However the front usually has Pace, But fast or slow LET'S obey the rules of the road = Don't be a Dick! 12th year running back to our original distance of 40 miles, 4500 vertical feet of climbing with 5 sections of good ole VT Class IV. The most challenging could be the 19% up Johnson Hill Road. 40mm plus tires and gearing to keep your legs fresh are recommended.

There are a few short sections that some riders may want to dismount and walk or jog. And that's Okay, go your own pace; the challenge is as important as the journey!

    Equipment Recommendation

This ride is calling for cross, gravel, flat bar mountain, or the like ~highly discourage any road bikes! 38 cc and above tire choice will serve you well. There is no "hike-a-bike" ALL totally ridable Class IV.

    Water + Food

There will be 2 refueling/ Feed stations; one at 14 miles (top of Marsh Cross and Dale Road) and 28 miles at the top of Holt Mtn Class IV stocked with GU gels, GU hydration, bananas, pickles, syrup shots and more. We do recommend you carry plenty of water and your own nutrition as well.

    Race day parking

Plenty of parking at Wild Wings Nordic Center. Follow Hapgood Road east out of Peru Center. At the town garage bear left onto North Road. Follow North Rd. appox. 2 miles, bear left at the folk, 500 meters to Wild Wings XC.

Ride with a Purpose - All Proceeds go to Rare Disease Research and Advocacy

I started this endeavor twelve years ago as a passionate cyclist with a cause. Building community, Advocating for a cause, challenged with the parallels between gravel riding/ racing, walking the rare disease journey and educating myself and others, about childhood rare disease. I am not a charity but work directly with Vermont Rare, Rasopathies Network, CFC International amongst others to educate people on rare disease and finding ways to improve the lives of young people and families that live with a rare disease. So if you to are passionate about something, enjoy strong community and friends, do things with a purpose, love to ride and are excited about a new challenge, Vermont Rare Gravel might be the perfect fit!

“Have you ever been on a ride when the vibe and flow is just right? That was the feeling of the RAS Adventure Ride. With a great mix of classic Vermont dirt roads, limited amounts of tarmac and many challenging miles of off-road segments, you have all the elements of a classic dirt road event in the making. I hear that there will be even more off-road sections next year, so it’s only going to get better! Be sure to mark this event on your calendar for next year – you won’t want to miss it.”

    • 2015 Participant Testimonial

"Thanks for another great RAS ride! It was my girlfriend's first travel event, and her longest ride ever! She survived and enjoyed it, even the crazy hill around mile 30!" ~2018 Participant
