Welcome to Raid Lamoille, a premier gravel grinder event. Details can be found on the ride web site (raidlamoille.com) but we can tell you this – the long route will be around 55 miles, mostly gravel and will include a significant amount of climbing. Yeah, it’s hard. Not up for that? We do offer a sweet 25-mile option!
You can find route profiles on the ride's web page.
Mostly self-supported along the way, riders are treated to a delicious lunch and cold beer at the finish.
YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE TO REGISTER FOR THIS RIDE
Raid – Our definition? A raid is a challenging route that includes a significant amount of packed-gravel riding and some major climbing segments. Some would call it a dirt road randonee, others a gravel grinder, we just call it a Raid. This is not a race. A properly prepared rider and bike of most any type can do this. Our guarantee – you will finish tired but feeling accomplished. It’s probably not for everybody, but you’re not everybody, right?
Navigation - all routes will be judiciously marked with turn arrows. In prior years we marked all intersections with arrows (and plan to again) but town permitting requirements and sign vandalism may compromise their effectiveness . We also provide downloadable files for your GPS and will have printed cue sheets available.

Grateful Gravel is the proud creation of Deadhead gravel bike riders from the Mad River Valley, combining their love of long bike rides and music festivals into one long strange event. Two entertainment endeavors that collide to move you brightly. Grateful Gravel provides a challenging cycling event featuring some of Vermont's most picturesque landscapes and gravel roads that segues into a face melting gathering of community and friends to enjoy the song catalog of Hunter, Garcia, and the rest of the Grateful Dead.
[bike-in-covered-bridge.png]
The day begins with a 21, 46, or 63 mile gravel ride that makes your legs scream louder than Donna Jean during a mid-70’s Playing in the Band. An epic after party at Cousin's Brewing starts at 2:00 PM with music, food, beverages, and bar games. Weather-permitting, we'll have an outdoor stage and beer garden on the beautiful lawn out back.
All riders can refuel after the ride with a small meal provided by Silk Road and a beer compliments of Cousin's Brewing. Additional food and beverage will be available for purchase.

The Fairfax Egg Run is a family-friendly community event hosted by the
Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department.
Join us for a 5K Run, 10K Run or 5K Fun Walk. We also offer a Kids Fun Run for those 12 years old and under. Our beautiful course includes gentle, rolling hills and offers views of the Lamoille River. After the race, enjoy a made-to-order omelet featuring locally sourced ingredients and other post-race refreshments in our food tent. To commemorate your participation, you can order a Race T-shirt when you register for the race!
Proceeds from the race benefit the Fairfax Community Center Restoration Project. With new and exciting updates already started, we are looking to the future of our town. This building currently serves as the meeting place for several weekly yoga classes, karate classes, fencing clubs, Girl and Boy Scout meetings, dog training classes and so much more. With the continued work on this building, we will be able to accommodate the growth of our town and continue to bring excellent opportunities to Fairfax.
We will award prizes to the three top finishers in the 5K Run and the 10K Run. We will also have awards for top three performers in each age group. As always, your race registration automatically enters you into our great post-race raffle.
Timing services will again be provided by 802 Timing. This is a chip-timed race, and we will be using "chip time" for awards (as opposed to "gun time"). This COULD mean that someone who finishes physically ahead of a competitor might have a longer time than one who starts at the back of the pack and cruises a fast time.
Register by June 1 to take advantage of early-bird pricing!
We look forward to seeing you at the Start line!

Participants who complete all three races will receive a commemorative item and will be entered into a drawing for some fabulous prizes.
