8 walking events in Loudoun County, Virginia

The Virginia Marathon goes through Virginia’s horse and wine country. Developed by Old Dominion Racing, this event will include both live/in-person racing. The live race kicks off in historic Middleburg. Land at Dulles International Airport in Loudoun County and within 30 minutes, arrive at this postcard-worthy town dating back to 1787. Travel along paved roads (some gravel) in Loudoun and Fauquier counties, enjoying scenic vistas, horse farms, rolling countryside and plenty of shade. Everyone starts and ends at The Hill School, which is minutes from Middleburg’s downtown streets filled with boutiques and locally-owned restaurants. Athletes seeking a greater challenge can opt for the full Marathon or Merikós to go up Bull Run Mountain (elevation gain of 3000+ ft in total) and back again!

Beat the long lines race morning and pickup up your bib and more at =PR= Run and Walk in Leesburg (1601 Village Market Blvd. SE, Unit 120, Leesburg, VA 20175 on Saturday, March 21 from 12pm-4pm.

Also on race day from 6:30am until your event starts at The Hill School (Compression socks available for purchase at race day packet pickup).

It was the second most beautiful course I’ve ever run, the first being the Yorkshireman in the UK, so hard to compete with. Packet pickup was seamless, the volunteers were kind, enthusiastic, friendly and helpful. The course was well marked, and the perfect kind of challenge. There were plenty of porta-potties. The TShirts are cute, and the blanket is a great piece of swag. Well done! I can’t wait to run it (hiking those hills) again.

The Van Metre 5K Run was established in 1992 to benefit Children's National Hospital. The event includes a One Mile Fun Run/Walk inviting everyone from serious runners, occasional joggers, and walkers of all skill levels to participate. To date the Van Metre 5K Run has raised over $3.5 million dollars in support of Children's National.

Race day activities include an interactive warm up for the kids, arts and crafts and face painting. The post-race celebrations include cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall male and female runners and additional prizes are presented to the top two male and female runners in every age group. There are a variety of other raffle and door prizes. Refreshments and snacks are provided by local restaurants and businesses and include everything from bottled water, fresh fruit, granola, muffins, donuts, and cupcakes to a complimentary slice of pizza for everyone in attendance.

The Van Metre 5K Run provides a USATF certified course and uses a ChronoTrack race timing system with disposable B-tags. From corporate teams to families with strollers and dogs, there is something fun for everyone! The 2026 Historic Waterford Trail Run/Walk is a perfect outdoor adventure located in beautiful Western Loudoun County, just under an hour from DC. Bring your family and friends to experience a 5K, 10K and Fun Run through scenic trails, paved and gravel roads, vineyards, and the historic streets of Waterford, Virginia. Spend some time enjoying the beauty of an early 19th Century American village with sweeping vistas of rural landscapes and farms, historic buildings and the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains. The trails are rustic so you many encounter a little mud, but that is half the fun!

Proceeds from the race will benefit the Waterford Foundation!

Event Information:

10K Trail Run begins at 8:30 am. The course is on trails, fields, unpaved roads, and paved roads. You will have 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete the race.

5K Trail Run/Walk begins at 8:40 am. The course is on trails, fields, unpaved, and paved roads.

Kids' Fun Run begins at 10:00 am. The Kids' Fun Run is approximately 1 mile. Each child who finishes will get a fun run medal. Parents are welcome to run with their children without registering separately.

Awards for the 5K and 10K will start approximately 9:30 am. The top 3 overall male and female finishers will receive an award. The top 3 male and female 11&Under finishers will also receive an award.

SWAG: All 5K and 10K participates will receive a commemorative race t-shirt and finisher medal. Please register by April 15 to be guaranteed a t-shirt.

Join us Memorial Day, Monday May 26th, for the friendliest family 1.5 mile run ever! Race begins 8am at Hamilton Elementary and course navigates through the Orchard Circle neighborhood, then finishes back where you started at Hamilton!

Join us for the inaugural Mom Fuel 5K & Wellness Fair!

Moms fuel their families and their communities -- it's time to fuel the moms!

The Mama Foundation invites you to Mom Fuel 5K & Wellness Fair at Claude Moore Park Sterling, VA. This family-friendly event celebrates maternal health and wellness while raising funds to support postpartum mothers in our community. Run at 9:30am then stay and enjoy free coffee, wellness fair and kids activities after!

The Mama Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting postpartum mothers through community support groups, flexible employment programs, and maternal wellness resources. Funds raised directly support mothers in our community.

This 5K is open to runners and walkers of all levels, families, children and strollers welcome, anyone who supports maternal health and coffee lovers or moms (and dads!) who need a coffee boost.

No running experience required.

LOVE, KK - Annual 5KK Race Save the Date for Saturday, June 6, 2026

The Annual 5KK is a 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) running-or-walking race hosted by the Love, KK foundation. Love, KK’s mission is to support entrepreneurship and local business – more details about Love, KK’s impact and programs can be found at www.lovekk.org

The 5KK is a race for everyone: families, kids, competitive runners, non-competitive runners, and small business lovers! This year we are thrilled to return to Far Bungalow Farm for a riverside trail run and a post-race after party that will showcase awesome food and beverages from small, local businesses.

Team Registration

If you would like to race with us at Far Bungalow Farm as a team, one person from the team will create and enter the team name when registering. Then, the remaining team members will be able to join that team during the registration process. To compete as a team on race day, your team must have a minimum of four runners. The team with the fastest four runners will win! With your team registration, you will receive a $5.00 discount.The $5.00 discount will show up on the registration page once your 4th team member registers, at which point team members 1-3 will be refunded their $5.00
