    Hop to it! Celebrate spring with Kappa Alpha Theta's 5k race through Washington and Lee's beautiful campus supporting Blue Ridge CASA and Theta Foundation. The race will begin at 10:00 am on Sunday, March 29 in front of University Chapel. The route consists of three laps around Washington and Lee's campus. Stay after the race for a raffle from local businesses!

    Blue Ridge Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is an organization providing support for abused and neglected children. CASA trains and supports volunteers who advocate on behalf of these children in court proceedings to ensure they are placed in safe and permanent homes. CASA volunteers are the voice for abused and neglected children and become a stable and reliable presence for them. Proceeds will also go to Theta Foundation. Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose vision is to give every Theta every opportunity to make a difference. It's Theta for Good Program helps to improve Theta chapters' philanthropic impacts and widen their influence for good across the country.

    • The first leg is a 3.5-mile run on paved road over a moderately hilly course.

    • The second leg is a 9.1-mile bicycle ride on paved hilly roads.

    • The third leg is a 2.2-mile canoe or kayak course down the Maury River.

    • The fourth and final leg is a 1.3-mile loop run on slightly hilly trail course.

    The Run4WoodsCreek race is a 4-mile run along the Woods Creek Trail in Lexington, Virginia. The race is organized by the Friends of Woods Creek (FoWC), a volunteer organization that is part of Rockbridge Conservation. The FoWC's mission is to protect, enhance, and promote Woods Creek and the associated Trail. The group works to remove invasive plants, monitor water stream quality, and plant native trees.

    Runners and walkers of all abilities are encouraged to participate! The race course follows the Woods Creek Trail. Beginning and ending at the creek bridge near Waddell Elementary and turning around at the Historic Miller House Museum in Jordan's Point Park in Lexington Virginia, you will run past Waddell Elementary playground, past Lime Kiln playground, cross the bridge near old Beam Me Up BBQ, run through a cool tunnel and get a taste of Washington & Lee before getting VMI's scenic view overlooking practice fields and barracks before descending to the Historic Miller House and then returning by ascending a challenging hill before eventually gliding by the beautiful and bubbling Wood's Creek again on the return.
