Get ready to test your speed — and your patience — in this season’s Run Wild Race! Inspired by the timeless tale of The Tortoise and the Hare, this event raises awareness and funds for an endangered tortoise species in the wild.

Just like in the story, it’s not only about who’s fastest — it’s about staying steady, determined, and doing your part for wildlife conservation. Whether you sprint like the hare or pace yourself like the tortoise, every step helps protect these slow and steady survivors.

Join us at the Metro Richmond Zoo for a day of adventure, wildlife, and family fun — all while supporting the preservation of the endangered tortoises in their natural habitat.

Welcome to the Bon Air 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run!!! This event is held by Bon Air Elementary School Parent Teacher Association (PTA), and is a major fundraiser for our school! We really appreciate your support! This event will run in person on May 2rd, 2026. Run, walk, skip, or jump; do the 5K your way! While participating we kindly ask everyone to be considerate of each other's safety. BELLE ISLE BLITZ: Chip timed trail 5K-ish with a similar course as the Filthy 5K-ish but no mud pit so you can spend your time focusing on the trails! Less actual mud not guaranteed

JAMES RIVER SCRAMBLE: During your 6ish mile trail run you'll get to experience firsthand some of RVA's best outdoor gems including the Canal Walk, the James River Park System, Belle Isle, and the Floodwall.

BUST THE BANKS: Prepare to take on Richmond's urban single track system on foot. It'll be gritty, and it's gonna be dirty, but it's not an event you want to miss. Dodge tree limbs, climb banks, coast downhill, and navigate to the finish. Run the banks alongside rapids, rocks, and see some amazing views of the city skyline.
