The Up For Air Series is a collection of endurance events created to amplify informed dialogue and empower organizations actively working on air quality solutions. Proceeds from RUFA events are directed at carefully selected non-profit groups who demonstrate high value influence strategies. The race platform is used to expose participants and the general public to science-based material about the importance of healthy air. All events are conducted with a minimal footprint philosophy.
Running Up For Air (aka RUFA) is a 3, 6, 12, or 24 hour winter endurance challenge for teams or individuals that takes place on Malans Peak on the east bench of Ogden City. Each “lap” starts and finishes at the 29th Street Trailhead (29th Street and Buchanan Ave, Ogden). Parking is available at the trailhead, but we encourage participants to carpool. There is a church at 27th and Tyler Ave that has available parking. (Shuttle service will not be provided.) Elevation at the start is 4764’. The route climbs roughly 2300' to the top of Malans Peak topping out at 6904’. Runners will retrace their steps and return to the trailhead for a total of six miles. The first .75 mile is a gradual climb of 300’ right before entering Taylor Canyon. The next two miles quickly become steep finishing off the next 2,000’ of gain to the peak. Repeat this as many times as possible until you Refuse To Continue (RTC). The time of year (February!) is intentional as it coincides with the latter part of the winter
inversion "season".
Given the time of year the route is almost entirely snow covered and can easily involve harsh winter mountain conditions. This is winter running at its finest! Prepare for ice and wind depending on the weather. Spikes or shoe screws are recommended once entering the canyon if ice is present.
Register for any of these options:

24hr: Malans Peak Team Relay (1 to 4 runners with one runner running per team for 24 hrs relay style)

I'm participating in Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) Carry Forward® Virtual 5K to support life-changing programs for post-9/11 veterans -- and I'd be honored to have your support.
I am carrying forward to help ensure warriors receive the life-changing care they deserve, always at no cost to them.
To Register you can go to this hyperlink: https://carryforward.woundedwarriorproject.org/participants/Brandon-laaksonen-2026
or you can go to the wounder warrior carry forward website and search my name under squads.
I am carrying forward to support mental health, financial wellness, and long-term independence for warriors, their families, and caregivers.
I am carrying forward to help build a future where no warrior is left behind.
Every step I take and every dollar I raise helps create the care and community where veterans thrive for a lifetime. Will you support me with a 100% tax-deductible donation today?
This is a in person or virtual 5k event, everything donated is contributed to the organization itself and not to the sponsor, I just coordinate and facilitate the event with hopes we get the best possible outcome and that for anyone who attends would want to attend again.
There is a registration fee on their website that they consider a donation, but for that fee they also provide you with a shirt and medal as a thank you. These I will ask you bring to the event because they ask, we submit a photo for those who give consent.
With this being a 5k fun run, you are not required to run, I have had previous participants, walk with flags, ruck with either pack or weighted vest, or just enjoy a nice walk.
At the end I will provide a beverage and snack as a thank you from me for your participation. Then ask anyone willing to join in on the photo.

DATES: JUNE 19th & 20th
The GRODEO is a true backcountry adventure, and as such, we've decided that it's time for it to be self-navigated. Every year, critical markings have been run over, blown away, or simply removed, which has created confusion for riders who are relying on the course markings alone. For 2026, riders will be expected to utilize their Wahoo, Garmin, or other GPS device for navigation. The course file is available for all devices.
The two-day event kicks off on Friday with an open house at ENVE HQ, showcasing some of our favorite and most unique ENVE builds. Expect to see a curated collection of Semi-Custom, Custom Road, and one-of-a-kind custom-painted bikes from ENVE athletes, employees, and partners like Black Magic. We’ll serve up a good time with music, food, drink, and a chance to test your skills on the Trackline Gravel Time Trial.
On Saturday, the GRODEO will showcase ENVE's favorite roads and trails through the Northern Wasatch Mountains with picturesque views and challenges that will push you and your equipment to new levels. They’ll play tour guide showing you their backyard and the very proving grounds for some of your favorite ENVE products. The 93-mile ride isn’t for the faint of heart, or those light on fitness. It’s guaranteed to be a riding experience that will test you in every way and deliver a challenge unlike anything else out there.
