  We are thrilled to invite you to this year’s Run as One: 5K to Fight Hunger, a community event uniting Manara Academy, Valley Ranch Islamic Center (VRIC) and Islamic School of Irving (ISI) in a shared mission to make a meaningful impact. What began as Manara Academy’s annual 5K to bring families and community members together has now grown into a powerful partnership dedicated to combating hunger and uplifting those in need.

  The Manara Academy Board continues to serve as the guiding force behind this cherished tradition. Their steadfast commitment to excellence reminds us that the discipline, perseverance, and consistency required to prepare for a 5K are the same qualities that drive success in life. We draw additional inspiration from Dr. Ehap Sabri, our Board President, whose personal marathon journey—sparked by a Manara teacher’s “Health and Fitness for Everyone” initiative—embodies our shared value of going the extra mile.

  This year’s collaboration with VRIC and ISI represents the spirit of unity and service that defines both organizations. Together, we are running not just for fitness, but for a cause that matters—fighting hunger in our community.

  We invite you to join us on this transformative journey of health, compassion, and hope. Through our combined efforts, we continue to strengthen our communities and live out the values that define Manara Academy, VRIC and ISI.

  The 3rd Annual Back to the 80s Run/Walk is bringing all the neon, big hair, and retro beats to the streets with the 5K, 10K and brand new 15K distance, a live DJ spinning 80s hits, and a post-race party.

  Runners, walkers, and families will light up the course dressed in their best 80s gear — think leg warmers, bright colors, and totally tubular energy. This event is more than just a race — it’s an experience that celebrates fun, fitness, and community with a nostalgic 80s twist!

  Seize this chance to make a big impact at the Back to The 80s 5K &10K—Lace Up. Race Strong. Build Community!

  TRAIL DETAILS: Out and Back. There will be a Portal Pot at Start/Finish Line and more Restrooms on course. See course map below.

  Faster runners please line up in the front and walkers and strollers please line up in the back of the field. You will be chip timed so your official time will not start until you cross the starting mat.

  VOLUNTEER WITH US

  -Aid station (Super High Priority): Provide water to participants as they pass by. Keep course clean for runners by picking up discarded cups, bottles and trash and placing it in the provided trash cans.

  -Course Monitor ( Super High Priority): Help maintain a safe course by redirecting traffic away from participants and guiding participants in the right direction.

  Feel free to bring pom pom, horns, music, instruments, signs etc. to encourage and cheer on runners. Bonus for creative

  costumes!

  REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY

  Cancelation Policy All Lace Up Running events proceed rain or shine or snow or cold. For that reason, we have a strict no refund policy.

  In the event of extreme weather, the start time of this event may be delayed by up to an half hour. Past this time, the even course may be shortened or altered to protect the participants.

  If conditions turns into lightening, ice or become unsafe, the event may be cancelled. Event changes and cancellations are at the discretion of the Race Director.

  We always strive to produce a full and safe sporting event, but sometimes the weather conditions can affect those plans.

  A lot of hours, days and even months goes into planning a sporting event and we do so with the best intentions. Unfortunately, no one can control the weather and race directors are not the exceptions.

  Our goal is to always produce a full event as scheduled and only modify these plans due to safety concerns some of which can be caused by weather conditions.

  Thank you for your understanding of these policies and we appreciate your participation.

  If you are unable to participate in the event, or the event is canceled, you can still receive your packet, shirt, and medal and you simply run the race on your own time on your own course. See our virtual race information for complete details.

Pups and pup parents are invited to team up for a 5K Run/Walk along the scenic Las Colinas Urban Center. The tail-wagging good time continues with ice-cold beer, mimosas, food, entertainment, and more!

  • Register to run with 1 dog per person.

  • Dogs less than 25 pounds must register as small dogs.

  • Dogs 25 pounds and more must register as large dogs.

  • Dogs must be licensed and vaccinated with current tags displayed on their collar. Proof of rabies vaccine required. Bring current shot records to Packet Pickup.
