17th Annual Half Marathon benefiting The Hope & Healing Place
Run. Release. Remember. Rise.
The Hope & Healing Place is a nonprofit organization that has provided free grief support services to children and families since March 2003. The annual Half Marathon is a vital fundraiser that allows us to continue offering these services at no cost to the families who need them most.
Physical and mental health are fundamentally linked, and this race is designed to honor both. Whether you are running for personal wellness, in memory of someone you love, or in support of our mission, every mile you run helps bring hope and healing to our community.
The 13.1-mile course takes runners through scenic downtown Amarillo, the historic Oliver Eakle and Wolflin neighborhoods, and along iconic Route 66 — offering a meaningful and memorable running experience.
This year’s event is part of a larger Hope & Healing Place community experience. Runners are encouraged to stay after the race to take part in Wings of Hope, including a butterfly release honoring remembrance, healing, and resilience.
Your run makes a difference — thank you for being part of the journey.

Join us Saturday September 19th 2026 at 8:30 am CST for our inaugural Miles for Merrick, a community 5K and 1 Mile walk/run.
We are the parents of Merrick, Macy and Michael Maldonado, and we are creating this event to raise awareness for lissencephaly pachygyria, a rare neurological and genetic disorder that affects brain development. This event is inspired by Merrick and the joy and strength shown by children and families living with conditions that require special attention and care.
Miles for Merrick is about more than just walking and running miles, it’s about bringing together families and friends to support one another, raise awareness, and make a meaningful impact in our community.
A portion of proceeds from this event will go to the Turn Center in Amarillo, a nonprofit organization that provides therapy services and support to children with developmental challenges. The Turn Center plays an incredible role in helping Merrick and other kids in need in our community reach their fullest potential, and we're proud to support their mission.
Timing for this race will be provided by the Amarillo Lone Star Runners Club.
Whether you're a competitive runner, a casual walker, or simply coming to show support, we invite you to be a part of this special event.
