Wellness Works Program Information
MUSC Children's Health Wellness Works program is a wellness/weight management program and lipid treatment clinic for kids and teens. We work with kids and their families to promote healthy habits through individualized clinic visits, group education sessions, and a fitness program. We have had fantastic success and we currently have over 600 families enrolled from all over the state! Since we are a non-profit program, we rely heavily on fundraising events that also promote our healthy message through exercise and health promotion.
Thank you so much for your support of these children and their families and for helping us build healthy communities! More information can be found on our website at www.MUSCKids.org/WellnessWorks and our Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/MUSCkidsWellnessWorks.

FAQs so you are ready to race:
Q. Where do I park?
A. Head to 3883 Betsy Kerrison Parkway (you'll see a big dark fence at the front of the Kiawah River neighborhood). Once you turn into the driveway, you will follow the road for 1.5 miles where you'll meet our parking attendants. We highly encourage carpooling to the race to lighten our carbon footprint. If you're traveling from Charleston or Mount Pleasant, please allow yourself plenty of driving time before the race start.
Q: Where can I pick up my race packet?
A. You can pick up your race packet on Friday, April 24th from 10am - 6pm at Blue Sky Endurance at 624 Coleman Blvd. Mount Pleasant, SC. There will also be race day packet pickup from 7:30-8am on site at the Goatery.
Q. Is the race chip-timed?
A. Yes, the 5K race is chip-timed.
Q. Are strollers welcome?
A. The 5K terrain will require all-terrain strollers. We ask that strollers start in the back.
Q. Are participants permitted to walk in the races?
A. Absolutely! Walkers are welcome. The 5K course is a natural course with beautiful scenery.
Q. Are dogs welcome?
A. We ask that you leave dogs at home, as they do disturb the donkeys at The Goatery. Goats are chill. Donkeys, not so much. Trust us on this one!
Q. What does registration include?
A. 5K registration includes: Chip-timed trail run, race trucker hat, eco-friendly plants for all finishers in lieu of medals. Farm friendly prize baskets for top 3 female and top 3 male race winners and top age group winners.
Q. How much is registration?
A. The 5K registration is $45, price increases 4/1/25 to $55. Race day registration is $60.
Q. What do the funds raised support?
A. We are proud to honor the Hampton Wildlife Fund as our 2026 race beneficiary. The Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund, Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation which partners with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources for the promotion of education, research, management and the administration of game and fish laws, which will benefit conservation of wildlife, marine and other natural resources in South Carolina. Net proceeds from the G.O.A.T. 5K support this essential local nonprofit.

Michael W Leibowitz was always on the move. A fixture in the Charleston running community, he once participated in more than 70 races in a single year! Michael traveled across the globe for a good cause, bringing family and friends with him whenever they obliged. His motto, which he routinely shared accompanied by a photo on every trek, was “If I can do it, so can you.”
Michael was tragically killed at age 71, along with his friend Christina Chung, in an accident in July 2024. His grandchildren, children, family, and friends wish to honor his memory with this annual event. Why 5.12 K? In honor of Michael’s birthday, May 12 - and because he revered being a little different with measurements. All proceeds from this memorial event will be donated to the Michael W Leibowitz Family Fund, to support the charitable causes closest to his heart. Through these efforts, Michael’s generous spirit and dedication to helping others will continue to inspire and uplift those in need. An engineer, pilot, avid runner and travel enthusiast, you can learn more about Michael here.
This event is open to people of all levels of athletic ability and will not be timed (Feel free to time yourself with your watch of course).
Due to insurance and liability concerns, we cannot allow dogs on the racecourse.
We hope you'll come out and honor Michael's legacy with us!
If you have any questions or concerns, please call Lisa 843-224-7878.

Washed Up Coffee Club started in late 2023 as a small group of men chasing sunrises and conversation as much as miles. Founded in Charleston, the crew began with a simple belief: running should be a space for authentic connection, not just another box to tick. What began as a handful of runners has grown into a dedicated community that moves between two speeds, relaxed social miles where talk flows freely, and intentional speed sessions where effort deepens respect. Biweekly beach runs followed by ocean dips have become ritual. Early morning workouts breed the kind of camaraderie that sticks. Washed Up wove itself into Charleston's running fabric by relentlessly pursuing authentic connection and performance, proving that vulnerability and ambition belong on the same route.
