*Make sure: the brakes work, the tires are NOT dry rotted and have good tread, fill up the tires with air to make sure the inner-tubes are in great working order. ~~*If the tires loose air, that means the bike needs new inner-tubes.
*Make sure the chain is not rusty, it has been properly oiled and moves freely along the gears.
*If your bike has gears, please make sure all the gars can work, and that the chain works well on the gears.
Don't hesitate to take your bike to a bike shop to have them take a look and see how they can help you get your bike in great working order!

Course Decoration Contest!

Here's how it works: Your group will be given an area on the 5K course to decorate in some Blob (or other monster/alien) theme. The only rule is that you don't obstruct or startle our runners. After the race, runners will vote for the best scenes and the winners will receive gift cards!
Location: The race starts in front of the Historic Colonial Theatre on Bridge Street! 227 Bridge St. The street will be closed to cars.
Parking: Free off-site parking will be available at Phoenixville Middle School (1000 Purple Pride Parkway). There are four municipal lots near the starting area. One is accessible by the driveway between the Municipal building and the Foodery (325 Bridge Street). The other is on the corner of Taylor Alley and South Main Street. There is also parking at the Borough Hall lot (351 Bridge Street) and the Smithworks parking lot (30 N. Main St.). Ride bikes, help local kids with cancer …
Registration for the 9th Annual Great Big Group Ride (GBGR), presented by Frank Armetta State Farm, is now open! Join us for a wonderful (but challenging) group ride that benefits local kids with cancer!
GBGR is a fun but challenging way for you to support the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley (PCFLV). This event features a Metric Century and a Metric Half Century. Every participant who registers by July 1st is guaranteed an event t-shirt! If you do not register by July 1st, you are not guaranteed a shirt, but we may have some available at the event.
And, new this year, all participants will receive a GBGR medal at the post-ride check-in table!!
Funds raised at Great Big Group Ride help PCFLV to support local pediatric cancer warriors and their families through financial, social and emotional support and programming.
Both the metric century and metric half century rides contain in-ride challenges, contests and prizes.
Be sure to arrive before your event's start time to enjoy free coffee and bagels and purchase raffle tickets. And stick around after you complete your ride to enjoy a gourmet cook-out generously donated by our friends at Whitehall Diner and Fitness Central.

WHAT PCFLV DOES FOR FAMILIES
"The Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley is dedicated to supporting quality-of-life for children diagnosed with cancer in the Greater Lehigh Valley and their families, as well as long-term survivorship and bereavement programs. All of our programming and events are offered at no cost to these families. We believe that a pediatric cancer diagnosis affects the WHOLE family, and our mission reflects that belief. We also believe that a family's experience with childhood cancer does not end when treatment ends. Because of that, PCFLV follows a continuum of care model, hoping to be a friend to families from the date their child is diagnosed forever forward.
If you or someone you know has a child diagnosed with cancer, is a survivor of pediatric cancer, or has lost a child to cancer, we encourage you to reach out to us and allow us to be part of your journey through the programming, events, and support we offer!"

What To Bring:
~We highly recommend a mountain bike or a hybrid bike for Mountain Bike Camp.
~ Ideally, the bike should have shifting gears, *knobby tires (no slick or bald tires), well-fitted, and in great working condition.
*Please take your bike to a bike shop for a tune up before camp begins: a bike that breaks on the trail can be a real bummer. Make sure the brakes work, the chain is not rusty or stiff, the tires are in good condition (no dry-rot) and all the nuts and bolts are secure.
~A well-fitted helmet in great condition. No cracks or dents- protect those noggins.
~A water bottle (or two) or a hydration pack
~Closed-toe, secure shoes. No sandals, flip-flops-or crocs.
~Snacks (none sharing). Nutritious, skip the high sugar. The rider is the engine, proper nutrition before and during camp will make for a better experience.
~Personal medicine if needed: Inhalers, Epipens..etc.
For Adventure Bike Camp: most bikes are great. While a mountain bike is ideal, if you have a traditional single-gear bike, we can work with you! Reach out to us [email protected], give us a heads up.
Highly Recommended:
~protective eyewear
~sunscreen & bug/tick repellent
~bike gloves
~padded bike shorts ?TRUST US!
Please reach out to your local bike shop now, to make sure your kiddo has a great camp experience later!
*All bikes should have a tune-up at least once a year.
Doing so saves money, keeps your bike in good condition, can prevent mechanical failures, and offers safety and security while riding your bike.

OPEN WATER SERIES EVENT OCCUR IN A RIVER SUBJECT TO FLOW AND RUNOFF CONDITIONS. All races will be held rain or shine. Generally, we will use www.phillyrivercast.org as a guideline of water quality. Ultimately, we will make a call by 12 noon and email registrants as well as posting it on our Facebook page at that time. Rain dates are typically Thursday of the same week, unless we post otherwise. If there is light rain during the event, we will still swim. WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO KEEP YOU INFORMED OF CONDITIONS, BUT DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE RIVER, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE ANY RACE TO BE HELD AT THE TIME INDICATED. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND FLEXIBILITY!
Prizes
Custom awards will be given for the top 3 in each category and age group, based on points scored in each race. Award winners must be present at the final race of the season (8/25) to claim their awards.

Infield pit passes for coaches and team staff are available for purchase on BikeReg at $40 for the entire event. Upon arrival at the venue, you will receive a wristband granting access to the infield. Please be aware that infield pass registrants will undergo screening against the SafeSport Disciplinary Database, and we strongly advise ensuring your SafeSport and MAAPP certifications are up to date.
Team Tent Space
To reserve space on the infield, please contact [email protected] with your group name and the number of riders you expect to have on-site.
Infield spots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. While we will do our best to accommodate specific requests, space is limited and cannot be guaranteed.
We are also working with local community members to borrow pop-up tents for traveling teams. For larger teams, we will have an overflow area outside of the facility where riders can warm up, rest, and gather between events, separate from your infield space. If your group may need overflow space, please indicate that in your email.

Racers have complete rule over the freshly paved roads allowing them to focus solely on performing at their highest level. The only vehicles on the course will be the race support vehicles assisting athletes with mechanical needs. To end your epic day of racing, the shaded tree-lined run course hugs the majestic
lake providing athletes with great views and multiple aid stations. The new improved ending to the run course provides one of the best finishes athletes will ever experience and allows family and friends the opportunity to cheer all Steelman Finishers on as they complete their perfect day of racing. This is a perfect mid-summer race and Steelman Racing can’t wait to see you there!
