St. Paddy’s Day Spectacle: Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of St. Patrick’s Day as you run through a course adorned with shamrocks, leprechauns, and all things green. Feel the spirit of the Irish with every step.
Costume Extravaganza: Don your most creative and whimsical green-themed costumes – whether you’re a leprechaun, a pot of gold, or just covered head-to-toe in shamrocks, the more festive, the better! Prizes await the most spirited participants.
Family-Friendly Fun: This event is perfect for participants of all ages and fitness levels. Bring your family and friends to share the joy of the Shamrock Shake 5K, creating lasting memories and fostering a sense of community.
Medals & Prizes: Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female runners and the top M&F runners in each of the following age groups: 13 and under, 14-19, 20 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60 - 69, 70+ ; 1st place male and female walkers will also receive a medal.
Finish Line Festivities: Cross the finish line to cheers and applause as you celebrate your achievement. Enjoy a post-race party that promises to be as lively as the course itself.
Fundraiser for the Y: Embrace the spirit of giving by knowing the event proceeds will go to the Greater Johnstown Community YMCA . Run with purpose and contribute to the well-being of the community.

The Path of the Flood Historic races commemorate the Flood of 1889 in Johnstown, PA. The runners have spoken and the event will continue annually! This year marks the 25th anniversary of the historic Staple Bend Tunnel, which runners of the 14-mile and 8-mile will journey through.
A Flood of Runners returns to Johnstown, PA every year for the Path of the Flood Historic Races! Experience the Path of the historic 1889 Johnstown Flood in its entirety with the 14 Miler or in small droplets through the 5K or 8 Miler races. See the resiliency of the communities of South Fork, Mineral Point, the boroughs and the City of Johnstown. Run through Staple Bend Tunnel, the first railroad tunnel in the United States. Finish at the Old Stone Bridge, which still stands after stopping the majority of the flood's energy. Our hybrid road/rail trail course beckons you to be a part of history once again!
The Path of the Flood Historic Races is hosted in partnership by the Cambria County Conservation & Recreation Authority and Heritage Johnstown. All proceeds from the Path of The Flood Historic Races will benefit the CCCRA Friends of the Trails program, a program which exists to enhance the Cambria County trails, and preserving the history of the Johnstown area.
