We are pleased to announce our 13th annual LECOM 5K as a healthful event that enables you to walk or run either our 3.1-mile course or one-mile course. LECOM Medical Fitness and Wellness Center encourages an active lifestyle throughout our great nation. So, we are maintaining our virtual option for those who are unable to attend our live event. Our virtual option does not require a timing device for you to participate, but you have the option of posting your time on the registration site to see how your time compares with others from around the country. Our live event will have the option to utilize timing devices and bibs so you can either compete for a place medal or just go for a personal best. The primary focus of both events is on the students who will be the future of our healthcare.
We have seen the heightened risk that has faced our medical professionals over the past several years. They are stalwarts on the front line, providing care to those in need of medical attention and risking their own lives to save others. Our profession is a noble one, and mindful of those currently in the battle, our efforts now will benefit those who will serve in years to come.
All proceeds from the 5K event will benefit the LECOM Student Scholarship Fund, helping to defray the educational costs of our future health care providers from LECOM.
LECOM is an institution that trains Osteopathic Physicians, Pharmacists, Dentists, and Podiatrists. Since its inception, LECOM has proven itself as an educational institution that encourages and supports its scholars through and beyond their years of study. Our Annual LECOM Student Scholarship Galas are the chief generator of resources that are used to assist students in defraying and offsetting the cost of their medical education. Each year, we raise millions of dollars in scholarship aid for our deserving students. In a time during which there is an increased need for primary care physicians, the need for successfully graduated medical practitioners is felt now more intensely than ever before.

Run a 2.25 mile (Approx) grass, mud, and gravel path around an abandoned golf course (the Gospel Hill Golf Club course owned by Penn State Behrend). Time? From Sunrise to Sunset on the longest Saturday of the year!
Half of every registration will be donated to the Behrend Cross Country program.
This is a self-supported ultra run, very similar to the ERC Personal Endurance Classic.
Course is a 2.25 mile loop. Expect some mud, a little side-hill, plenty of grass, a couple of hills (one of which you WILL walk down). Shade, open fields, wildflowers, and wildlife.
Do as many laps as you want.
And, since I don't have the MapMyRun section, here's a map:

THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS, DEFERRALS OR TRANSFERS.
NO EMAILS WILL BE SENT UNTIL RACE WEEK.
Many answers to questions are on our website, eriemarathon.net. Due to our park permit all parking will be at Waldameer Park and all will need to walk the .6 miles to the start and after the race.
We will have water stops with water and lemon lime Gatorade. They will be spaced about a mile apart and will also have a porta-potty near each.
Please be aware that all spectators must be able to walk to the race from Waldameer parking and at no point can they be on any roadway. If they are on any roadway they will be fined by the park. There are no food vendors or drink machines at the park, spectators must bring in anything they will need.
Location – Everything happens at the Erie Runners Club Beach 1 Pavilion on Presque Isle State Park. This location will be the start and finish for the marathon. All race participants must park at Waldameer or the Ridge Center and walk down the hill.
It doesn’t get much flatter with less than a 250-foot total change in elevation for the marathon. The running surface is mostly asphalt but there is still about a third that is concrete. However, most of the course offers a grass surface along the paved surface should you choose to run there. There is a considerable amount of shade and sun on the course, so it just depends upon if your glass is half full or half empty. This is an all-volunteer run race with a cap of 2000. We do offer race tracking with RaceJoy and pace groups are contracted through marathonpacing.com. The course is a Boston Qualifier.
Event insurance is sold and charged by a separate company and has a separate charge, this is offered through runsignup all questions about insurance go to them, There is a 6-hour limit and anyone not keeping a 14-minute place will need to finish on the all-purpose trail, you may be moved to the all-purpose trail earlier by request of park rangers.
Please check out our Facebook page for updates and visit the website www.visiterie.com.
