A 1-mile kid's run and an approximately 3K for grown-ups. The grown-up race begins as soon as the kids are done, approximately 10:15. The race is on city park sidewalks, trails, and includes one HUGE hill in beautiful Mingus Park. We have organized fireworks that evening for all participants!

Hilly, scenic trail run along the scenic Oregon Coast. Sunset Bay Trail Runs feature very challenging courses, especially for the longer distances and the views will take what breath you have left away. Seriously, this race has it all, killer hills through the woods, and an amazing flat cliff section where you'll see sea lions, rocks, the deep blue sea, and if you're very lucky, a passing whale. This is an amazing, not to be missed course.
Packet pickup and start/finish line is at the gazebo on far south end of Sunset Bay. Packet pickup is race morning only. Please come at least 1/2 hour before your race start time. Sunset State Park is a very gracious host and we want to keep our welcome warm. Please do not park on the grass!
Half-marathoners must have reached the aid station after the first loop at Cape Arago by 10:45. This is at approximately 6.5 miles. That is an 18:28 minute mile, which is almost a fast walking pace. If you arrive at the aid station after that, we will switch you to the 15K race, no worries, you will still have a great workout and a great time!
There will be water and Gatorade at the start/finish line and plenty of snacks at the finish. There is one aid station for the 15K and 1/2 marathon runners that will have water, gels, and other snacks. The 15K will pass the aid station twice and the 1/2 marathon will pass it 3 times. While we will have cups available, we encourage runners to carry a bottle to reduce waste. No littering on course! Please leave all waste at the aid station or carry it to the finish. Sunset Bay has been a gracious host for many years and we want to keep it beautiful.
There are restrooms at 4 miles for the 15 K and 1/2 Marathon participants. The course isn't on the road very much, but it is open to traffic, so be alert. This is a RRCA sanctioned event. For safety, NO headphones, rollerblades, skateboards (hey, you're on trails, that's not even possible), bicycles, animals, or jogging strollers are allowed during the race.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Marshfield High School Cross Country Team who will be manning the aid stations. Go Pirates!
Ribbons to top three winners overall and in each age-group. Farr's Hardware will donate a $50 gift card to a lucky random winner from each race. We will select a winner during awards. Must be present to win.

Note that students are $5.00. Please use the coupon code Student2022 to register. To avoid credit-card fees, you will not be charged at check-out. Please bring $5.00 (exact change appreciated) to registration!
Starting Oct 1, 2025, all vehicles require a parking pass (cost is per vehicle, not per runner). Cost of a day pass is $10 for in-state or $12 for out-of-state. Daily passes are available at a kiosk near registration with a QR code using your phone. We are working with the parks to see if we can sell them as part of registration, but details have not been worked out yet. Annual state park passes are $30 for one year and $50 for two years. They can be purchased at the gift shop at Shore Acres or on-line. FYI, the price will double to $60 for an annual pass January 1 and they will no longer issue two-year passes, so if you visit our beautiful state parks, it is cheaper to buy now.
