Dive into one of New Mexico’s most fun summer race weekends in Santa Rosa—“the City of Natural Lakes.” The City of Lakes Triathlon (COLT) features a crystal-clear open-water swim in Twin Lake, a fast bike through classic high-desert scenery, and a run that brings the energy back to the water and the community. (And if you make a weekend of it, Santa Rosa’s famous Blue Hole is right there for post-race adventure.) saturdaywarriors.net+1

Kick off the weekend with a high-energy Splash & Dash for kids—short, age-appropriate distances that keep it fun, safe, and confidence-building. Bring the whole family and let the kids have their own finish-line moment. 100-yard swim and a 1-kilometer run for ages 6-10, and a 200-yard swim and a 2-kilometer run for ages 11-13.
Come race solo, race with friends, or race as a team—COLT is built for first-timers and seasoned triathletes alike.
Amarillo Town Club SW
Join us Saturday September 19th 2026 at 8:30 am CST for our inaugural Miles for Merrick, a community 5K and 1 Mile walk/run.
We are the parents of Merrick, Macy and Michael Maldonado, and we are creating this event to raise awareness for lissencephaly pachygyria, a rare neurological and genetic disorder that affects brain development. This event is inspired by Merrick and the joy and strength shown by children and families living with conditions that require special attention and care.
Miles for Merrick is about more than just walking and running miles, it’s about bringing together families and friends to support one another, raise awareness, and make a meaningful impact in our community.
A portion of proceeds from this event will go to the Turn Center in Amarillo, a nonprofit organization that provides therapy services and support to children with developmental challenges. The Turn Center plays an incredible role in helping Merrick and other kids in need in our community reach their fullest potential, and we're proud to support their mission.
Timing for this race will be provided by the Amarillo Lone Star Runners Club.
Whether you're a competitive runner, a casual walker, or simply coming to show support, we invite you to be a part of this special event.
