Peace Ridge is hosting their 4th Annual 5k Run for
the Animals & 1 Mile Fun Walk on Saturday, October 4, 2025, also known as World Animal Day!! On this special day we will aim to raise awareness about animal welfare and promote the protection of all animals—whether they are pets, wildlife, or farm animals.
This family friendly event will be held at PRS’s Northeast Equine Sanctuary located at the edge of Freedom and Albion Maine. The purpose of this event is to aid and support lifesaving work PRS preforms daily.
This is one of the few fundraising events PRS holds each year. The funds raised are crucial for providing food, care, and medical treatment to our rescued animals, as well as for rescuing more in need. Many of our animals have come from severe cases of cruelty, teaching us about resilience and forgiveness. We deeply appreciate your support and any additional fundraising efforts you choose to do.
LOCATION: The Northeast Equine Sanctuary is location on the border of Albion & Freedom, Maine amid lush green landscape mixed with fields and forests, making it the perfect spot for this compassionate cause. There are endless stunning views surrounded by several gorgeous horses and ponies. By October this area will be bursting with beautiful warm fall foliage.
RACE/WALK: The race features a 5k trail run (3.1 miles) and a 1-mile trail walk, open to all fitness levels. Participants will run or walk through beautiful, natural scenery, winding along the enclosures and enjoying the calm presence of the animals as they go about their peaceful lives.

Memphremagog Trails Present: Grateful (An XC Race)
WE'RE SO BACK!
Get ready for the return to Memphremagog Trails—quietly home to some of the best singletrack in the region. Grateful is the XC
mountain bike event you don’t want to miss.
The Course!
A freshly-updated 10-mile loop of pure singletrack magic:
Fast, flowy, machined descents
Tight, twisty tech (watch out for roots and tight trees…. It's old-school tech at its finest)
Over 1,300 ft of elevation gain per lap
And... a few new secret features for returning riders (trust us, you’ll be stoked)
Designed to challenge and reward riders of all levels.
Race It or Ride It!
You choose your vibe:
Race 1 Lap (10+ miles): A solid test of skill and stamina
Race 2 Laps (We like a little bit of crazy)
Party Pace Option: No timing —ride the course at your own speed, soak up the views. Enjoy the full race-day atmosphere without any pressure.
Kids Race/Ride: Free youth race/ride for new riders. Group leaders will lead the next generation through the youth course, ending at the same finish line as the racers. Adults should plan to ride with their kids.
Grateful is built on a “No Pressure, No Prejudice” mindset—welcoming all genders and abilities.
The After-Party
After the ride, enjoy delicious local food trucks, live music, and an unbeatable Grateful community vibe. Local artisans will be at the on-site farmers market, and the pump track and skills area will be open to all ages. Bring the family and make a day of it.
2026 Cause
This year, Grateful will be recognizing our friend Anthony Moccia—co-founder of Rasputitsa and an early force behind Grateful, and a dedicated member of the Northeast Kingdom community. His leadership and generosity helped shape the inclusive riding culture we all value today.
In his honor, proceeds from Grateful will support the Halo Foundation, which provides financial assistance to families navigating cancer treatment, and Little Bellas, an organization that creates a community to empower women through cycling
Our Story
Founded in 2021, Grateful has become a defining event in the Northeast Kingdom. Built on inclusion and connection, it brings together experienced riders and those new to the sport in a welcoming, challenging environment.
At its core, Grateful is about community. Through local partnerships and a commitment to giving back, the event has donated over $15,000 in the past five years to organizations that strengthen this place we call home.
Past Events!

The 26th Annual North American Wife Carrying Championship® returns to Sunday River on Saturday, October 10, 2026, as part of our Fall Fest weekend. It’s weird, wild, and wildly entertaining—this
one-of-a-kind event draws competitors and spectators from across the globe to see who has what it takes to carry their partner to victory.
Teams race on foot through a 278-yard obstacle course that includes log hurdles, a sand trap, and the fan-favorite “Widow Maker” water hazard. The fastest two teams from the qualifying rounds will advance to a final heat to compete for the championship title—and some pretty quirky prizes, including the wife’s weight in beer and five times her weight in cash.
Not Married? No Problem.
Couples don’t have to be legally married, but teams must consist of one man and one woman, and both must be at least 21 years old on race day, to qualify for the world championship.
