    Barnburner MTB Festival October 16th - 18th, 2026 Welcome to the Barnburner MTB Festival, developed by Overmountain Cycles in 2019. This festival is an action packed weekend full of mountain bike races, camping, music, vendors and more. Enjoy three separate races throughout the weekend! The classic XC race, the Barnburner 50K that takes you along the fast ’n flowy LJSP and Fonta Flora Trails…or our exciting night race, the Night Burner 20 miler AND the electrified E-Burn an ebike only race! Enjoy one event or endure them all! Make sure you stay for the annual, ‘Burning of the Barn,’ Saturday evening at Sunset. This weekend is spectator friendly, bring the whole family! Registration details: Each race features a unique t-shirt design included with your registration! NEW Barnburner design coming soon Beer token included per person and free camping all weekend long. It is roughly half-way through the race at the end of the Long Arm section of Fonta Flora Trail near HWY126. We encourage you to be prepared with your personal nutrition and hydration, but the aid station will be there for your convenience. Cut-off time: Cut off time for both events, Barnburner and E-burn 1pm at the Linville River bridge off HWY 126 on the return trip from LJSP. Riders past this time will be directed to finish the race. Race Notes: Barnburner 50K is a mass start at sound of horn. Please line up according to your estimated finish time. Night Burner is a Le-Mans style start when Barn is set on fire/sound of horn. We encourage you to

    practice and be prepared. E-Burn is a mass start with few alterations. Upon racer meeting, riders will power down ebikes. At 1 minute until start, riders can power up ebikes. Mass start commences at sound of horn. You should provide space to start plus line up according to your estimated finish time. It's a beautiful

    venue allowing space for all the activities! On site camping and more parking in the grass field. We still ask that if you can carpool to please do! Address: 5536 Hwy NC 126 Nebo, NC 28761 Directions: From Raleigh: Follow I-40 W to exit 100 or Jamestown road. Follow Jamestown road (becomes independence blvd.) Turn left onto hwy 126 and follow for approximately 12 miles to Linville Adventure Pasture. From Asheville: Follow I-40 E to exit 100 or Jamestown road. Follow Jamestown road (becomes independence blvd.) Turn left onto hwy 126 and follow for approximately 12 miles to Linville Adventure Pasture. CAMPING: Camping is allowed on site during the evening both Friday and Saturday night. Parking is limited - tents or in vehicle camping allowed. No RVs or pull behinds. All vehicles must exit venue by 5pm on Sunday, October 18th. Awards: Barnburner 50k: Top Three of each age group/category Night Burner: Finisher prices for top three in each category E-Burn: Top Three of each age group/category

    Rules: 1. Have Fun! 2. Riders must wear an approved cycling helmet at all times while on the bike. 3. Riders must complete the event on the bike they started on. No bike swaps during the event. 4. Riders may receive outside support within 100' of official rest areas. 5. Riders may receive support from other PARTICIPATING riders at any time. 6. Riders must stay in single-file except to pass. 7. Riders must obey all local traffic laws. 8. Electric-Assist bikes (E-Bikes) are prohibited - only allowed in E-Burn race. 9. E-bikes raced in E-Burn can be pedal assist only - no throttle equipped bikes. 10. The Event Director reserves the right to disqualify any rider for any reason. 11. DNF riders must check-in and notify event timers E-bike Eligibility for E-Burn Race: 1. Throttle mechanisms are prohibited. 2. Non-production electronic devices designed specifically for traction control are prohibited. This includes sensors that can determine front wheel speed and any electronic control to the brake

    systems. 3. Class 1: Pedal Assist Bicycles with an electric motor Peak Power of <=750 watts that provides motor assistance only when the racer is pedaling and only up to a speed of 20 mph. Approved Drive Units only. Bicycles must remain locked, i.e., no modification of wheel sensors from factory circumference or any other modification to manipulate the factory set speed of the bike. 4. Production Rule: OEM drive unit and matching frame combination model required (matching year NOT required). Electric conversion kits and after-market frames are prohibited. Once qualified for the race, the frame may not be replaced. 5. Current list of approved drive units: Aventon, Bosch, Brose, Dyname, Panasonic, Shimano, Specialized, SRAM and Yamaha. 6. Class 1 bicycles that meet the above criteria but feature additional modes or settings to exceed these criteria must remain in a setting equivalent to a Peak Power of <=750 watts, and pedal assistance up to 20mph. Bicycles may be checked visually or tested

    by Race Officials at any time prior to, during, or after the event. 7. Restricted to Class 1 bicycles that exceed a 750-watt motor or are not an approved drive unit. Motor assistance shall only be engaged when the racer is pedaling and only up to a speed of 20mph. No Class 3 bicycles, bicycles with a throttle or otherwise modified machines.
