On average, someone in the US has a stroke every 40 seconds. A stroke can happen to anyone at anytime. Help us bring awareness and support our local stroke survivors and their families. We are proud to be one of the largest Stroke Support Groups in North Carolina. All proceeds from this event will benefit our Cabarrus Stroke Support Group.

During his time at A.L. Brown High School in the late 1950s, Robert Tucker discovered his love for running, excelling in track events such as the 440 and mile relays. His devotion to running spanned over 30 years, with an 18-year stretch of never missing a day, which served as a source of solace and strength as he faced the challenges of Parkinson’s Disease and Colon Cancer in his later life. In tribute to his remarkable journey, we proudly present the Robert Tucker Run 5K, a heartfelt homage to his enduring spirit and commitment to philanthropy.

Proceeds from the 5K will be dedicated to supporting The Community Free Clinic, a vital healthcare resource in Concord. As the sole provider of medical services and prescription medications for low-income, uninsured adults in Cabarrus County, The Community Free Clinic plays a crucial role in improving health outcomes and fostering well-being within our community. The Cannon Ballers Shooting Star 5K is part of the 2026 Run Kannapolis Race Series. This exiting run begins outside of the Cannon Ballers home - Atrium Health Ballpark - and concludes with a lap around the bases and the finish line directly on Home Plate!

Registration includes a limited-edition performance t-shirt (while supplies last) and a game ticket to the Cannon Ballers Starry Night game (August 15th at 7:00PM). All proceeds from the Shooting Star 5K benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in this unique series featuring the best 5K runs/walks in the city. Race Day Packet Pickup opens at 8:00am

Join us from 8a.m. to noon. There will be a DJ and activities for all.
- 8:00 a.m. - event site opens
- 9:00 a.m. - Buddy Run starts
- 9:30 a.m. - 5K starts
- 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. - Decathlon Activity Adventure course open as an alternative to the run/walk events
- Virtual 5K for those who cannot attend in person but want to participate where they are
There will be 5k awards given to overall top 3 male and female and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group: 10 & under, 11-15, 15-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61 -70, and 71 and up. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in the Decathlon. Awards will be given to the top three male and female Fun Run finishers.

5k participants will receive finisher medals!

5k runners and Decathlon participants will receive a bag, shirt, and giveaway items.

Virtual Runners will not be eligible for awards.

Old Armor 5K will be held at Old Armor Beer Company and will consist of a 5K and Youth Fun Run.

Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in this unique series featuring the best 5K runs/walks in the city. Each run is held in Kannapolis and hosted by a nonprofit that benefits from the entry fees.

All proceeds from this 5K will be donated to W.A.R. (Warriors Always Rise), a local nonprofit whose goal is to give back to Veterans and First Responders.
