The Northern Trails Trail Race returns to Greensboro, North Carolina, offering distances of 5 miles, 10 miles, and 17 miles. This early spring trail race challenges participants to run, ruck, or hike through the scenic trails along Lake Brandt and Lake Townsend. Over the years, racers have experienced it all—snow flurries, rain, and sunshine—making Northern Trails one of the most unpredictable and exciting trail races in the Piedmont. No matter the weather, this race is the perfect way to kick off your season and test your limits.

Whether you’re a first-time trail runner, an experienced rucker, or a seasoned endurance athlete, Northern Trails offers a challenge for everyone. Many runners use the 17 mile distance as the perfect prep race for an upcoming ultra or as a spring A race to push for speed on the trails. Others enjoy the 5- or 10-mile distances as an approachable way to get into trail running or to enjoy the camaraderie of the trail community.

Finishers receive a custom spring-themed medal, part of the North Carolina Trail Mega Medal Series, making it a must-do for anyone chasing the full 4-race collection. Participants also get a custom race shirt (available in unisex and women’s sizing), designed to reflect the rugged beauty of the trail.

About Family Service of the Piedmont

The High Point Guild supports the work of Family Service of the Piedmont, a local agency dedicated to empowering individuals and families to restore hope, achieve stability and thrive through quality support services, advocacy and education. Every year, we serve over 28,000 children and adults through direct service and community outreach, addressing issues of child abuse, domestic violence, mental health and financial stability.

Last fiscal year our Children's Advocacy Centers conducted 387 forensic interviews. That means they investigated an average of 8 cases of potential child abuse every week. Supporting this event helps fund life-saving child abuse prevention programs and victim support services in our community. Learn more about Family Service's impact and read a client story here. Be the hero these children need.

    Race Information

Stand up to child abuse this Spring by participating in the Superhero Dash 5k and Fun Run, hosted by the Guild of Family Service of High Point Foundation. The race will take place Saturday, March 28th at City Lake Park.

In addition to a chip-timed 5k, the event will include a Family Fun Run, where every child will receive their very own superhero cape, crafts and face painting, community resource tables, and prizes for the top three fastest 5k runners by age group. Participants will also be able to enjoy the park's amusement rides and activities for free (carousel, park train and mini golf). Superhero costumes are encouraged – come dressed up as your favorite superhero.

Help us cross the finish line by participating in this year’s event! Run (or walk) the 5k while raising money for Family Service of the Piedmont's programs and services that address child abuse, domestic violence, mental health, and financial stability in our community.
