    Get Ready to Run (or Walk!) for a Paws-itively Great Cause!

    Join us for the Waggin' Wild 5K Rescue Run-Walk—a tail-wagging good time for all ages, and yes, pets are welcome! Whether you're a serious runner, casual walker, or just in it for the puppy kisses, this event has something for everyone—including our crowd-favorite 1-Mile Fun Run!

    🏃‍♂️ 5K Start: 10:30 AM

    🏃‍♀️ Fun Run Start: 10:35 AM

    Leash up your furry friends and come out for a fun-filled morning of fitness, fundraising, and four-legged friends! Stick around after the race for awesome awards, prizes, delicious food, refreshing drinks, and plenty of ways to celebrate your support of local pet rescues.

    Your participation helps provide vital care for pets in our program and supports efforts to reduce animal overpopulation in our community.

    Let’s lace up, leash up, and make a difference—one paw at a time!

    Event Times:

    • 9:00 - 10:00 - On-site Registration and Packet Pickup

    • 9:30 - Our "photo booth" will be setup for you to drop in and get your individual, group or pet shot.

    • 9:30 to 10:40 - Raffle Open: You will receive 2 free raffle tickets with your registration! Additional tickets available for purchase.

    Raffle winners are drawn during the race and marked so check items after you finish!

    • 10:30 - 5K will start on paved Greenway.

    • 10:35 - Fun Run will start on paved Greenway.

    The start is at the Wildlife Center in Bur-mil Park.

    We encourage everyone to bring their dogs for this run-walk to benefit spay/neuter/medical assistance and rescue pets.

    Please NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES for safety of runners.

    • 11:45 AM - Recovery food, Runner/Walker/Pet Awards, Prizes and Raffle announcements

    Race Goodies:

    All competitors who register early will receive the Waggin' Wild T-Shirt and Race Bag. (late registration and day of only while supplies last)

    Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers overall in both Men's and Women's categories, as well as the first-place finishers among men and women in each age group. Awards will be presented to the top 3 dogs that cross the finish line in the 5K.

    The 5K race is chip timed by Junction 311 Endurance Sports.

    5K:

    The 5K will start at 10:30 AM.

    Race will begin at Wildlife Center.

    Participants will receive a T-Shirt and Race Bag.

    Fun Run:

    The Fun Run will start at 10:35 AM over a course of one mile.

    Race will begin at Wildlife Center.

    Participants will receive a T-Shirt and Race Bag.

    Participation Rules:

    For your dog’s safety, and to make this event enjoyable for all, participants must abide by the rules listed below. We encourage the participation of dogs that are well adjusted to crowds and noisy environments with large numbers of people and other dogs.

    • Dog(s) must be current on all shots and rabies vaccination.

    • Dog(s) must wear an ID Tag.

    • No dog(s) in heat and no aggressive dogs.

    • Dog must be leashed (6ft. max length) & in control. NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES PLEASE.

    • You must pick up after your dog. Disposable bags will be provided if needed.

    HARVEST ACADEMY https://www.harvest-academy.com a Classical-Christian-University Model school located in northern Greensboro, NC. It was founded in 2023 and is currently in its third year of operation. Harvest Academy is passionate about providing a quality education and fostering a strong community within the Greensboro area. The "Father's of Harvest" (a group of fathers of the students) have taken the initiative to showcase the school and the students by bringing you the HA (Harvest Academy) HAW (Haw State Park) HUSTLE 5k Trail Run and 1 Mile Trail Fun Run. We are guaranteeing an amazing race in March like no other. Remember to bring your old running shoes (no tears, holes, or ripped soles) for donation to Sneakers4Good.     Join us for the 3rd Annual Otis & Wawa Kilometers Over Cancer Tournament Trot + Fitness Festival:

    • Get involved: run/walk a 1-miler or donate as a Supporter

    Our mission is two-fold: to support earlier detection for breast cancer and to empower women.

    Greensboro is home to many ACC Tournaments each spring – a celebration of sports that brings fans from across the US. It’s a chance to celebrate the achievements of women, creating an ideal opportunity to honor and support breast cancer research. A portion of all event proceeds will benefit Earlier.org - Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test® - the nation's only nonprofit breast cancer organization focused solely on identifying an earlier biological detection test for breast cancer.

    1 mile Fun Run/Walk - $25 ($20 until 3/1/26)

    Not a long-distance runner? That’s fine. Grab some friends and join us on race day for the 1 mile run or walk and enjoy the festivities. Includes race event hat. (Dogs are welcome to join you in your 1 mile)

    HIIT Class - $20 ($15 until 3/18/26)

    A 40 minute high-intensity interval training workout led by ISI Greensboro. (Bring a mat)

    Yoga Class - $20 ($15 until 3/18/26)

    A 40 minute yoga session led by Greensboro Power Studios - providing transformative power yoga and strength training that challenges the body, engages the mind, and uplifts the spirit. (Bring a mat)

    All Fitness Ticket - $55 ($45 until 3/18/26)

    An all-inclusive ticket which includes all 3 workouts at a discount: 1 mile fun run/walk, HIIT Class, and Yoga class.

    Support A Survivor! - $35

    If you’re not a runner or can’t be there on race day, you can still support the cause and vote for your favorite ACC team! A race event hat will be provided to the survivor and shipped to you.

    5K Run/Walk and Kids 1-Mile Obstacle Course Fun Run

    We are back to our usual USATF certified 5K route!

    The obstacle course fun run will be geared toward ages 5-12, but older and younger are welcome! No strollers allowed on the Obstacle Course.

    Parents, please join your little ones! Racers will be grouped into age-appropriate heats (starting at 10:30 a.m.), but families are encouraged to run together.

    SCHEDULE

    Packet Pick-Up

    • Thursday, April 16th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Field House/Concessions Area, GDS campus

    • Late pickup on Race Day from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at the Greensboro Day School track

    Race Day April 18, 2026

    • 7:30-8:30 a.m.- Late Registration

    • 8:45 a.m.- Warm-Up

    • 9:00 a.m.- 5K Bengal Dash Run/Walk (chipped timed)

    • 9:45 a.m. approximate- 5K Awards Ceremony (must be present to receive award)

    • 10:30 a.m. approximate- Kids' Obstacle Fun Run heats begin (no strollers)

    Please join us, here at Friends Homes, for our 4th annual 5K event. Our goal this year is to raise $20,000 for the Resident Financial Assistance Campaign. The campaign provides financial assistance to residents who have had unexpected hardships and outlived their resources. We support all residents once they are part of the community, and the Resident Financial Assistance Campaign provides security of living at Friends Homes.

    You can register for the race anytime, including on the day of the event. The 5K entry fee is $30 but increases to $35 on race day. The Fun Run fee is $20 and increases to $25 on race day. T-shirts are included with each entry and are guaranteed for participants who register by April 3rd. After this date, shirts will be available while supplies last. Participants aged 10 and under are FREE to participate and will not receive a bib but can purchase a t-shirt for $10.

    EVENT TIMES:

    8:00AM- On-Site Registration Opens and same-day bib pick-up begins.

    9:30AM- 5K will start on Wellness Center roundabout.

    9:45AM-Fun Run will start on Wellness Center roundabout.

    10:45AM- Food, Awards, and Music.

    $30 - 5K January 20th - April 24th

    $35 - 5K April 25, 2025 - race day

    On June 3rd, let’s inspire the runner in everyone.

    The Big Run and Matt's Run to Fight Hunger have combined forces to make Global Running Day in the Triad the best ever! All proceeds from the race will go to Second Harvest Food Bank.

    Come run with us on June 3, 2026! This is a free fun run. Yes, free. We do ask that each person make a donation to Second Harvest Food Bank in order to receive an event t-shirt. You may pick up your race shirt at Fleet Feet Greensboro on June 2nd from 4-6pm or on the day of the event, June 3rd, 2026 from 12-4pm at Fleet Feet Greensboro and at the race site from 5:30-6:15pm. The run will actually start and finish in the parking lot next to Mt. Pisgah Church at 2600 Pisgah Church Rd. To ensure you get a t-shirt, please register by May 18, 2026. You may register race day and pick up your shirt from 5:30-6:15pm at this location.

    Help Us Give Back: We want to support our local community and give back to the Second Harvest Food Bank. All proceeds from the event will go towards Second Harvest Food Bank and any additional donations would be appreciated.
