3rd Annual "Miles 4 Moore" Pinecone 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run September 12, 2026
Purpose: The "Miles 4 Moore" Pinecone 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run will raise money for the Whispering Pines Veterans Memorial while connecting the local community and bringing awareness to a wellness lifestyle. This is a local fun run that begins and ends at the Whispering Pines Police/Fire Department located at 14 Hardee Lane and takes you through the local neighborhood. The 1-Mile Fun Run will begin at 7:40am followed by the 5K race at 8am Saturday September 12, 2026.
Event parking will be located at the Whispering Pines Park at 10 Hardee Lane. All runners will receive a small finishers gift courtesy of Sandhills Running Club. Packet pickup and will be Friday night September 11, 2026, at Whispering Pines Park located at 10 Hardee Lane from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
Same day registration and packet pickup will be available at the start line from 6:30am-7:20am. T-shirts cannot be guaranteed for registrations after September 1, 2026. There will be a limited supply available for purchase on race day.

20th Annual 24-Hour Race
VENUE:
Hinson Lake, Rockingham, North Carolina
RULES:
This event will be electronically timed. All participants will be issued a bib/chip which must be worn at all times to guarantee that all completed laps and splits are recorded. There will be a chute for runners only and if you will be taking a break, you will be asked to steer clear of the lap counting area.
COURSE:
The course is the 1.5032-mile inner loop that circles the lake. It is a USATF certified course with certification code NC14103DF. The surface is sand/gravel-maintained trail through the woods. You will run over 16 small wooden foot bridges including a 300-foot bridge that crosses over the lake. The trail will be marked on race day and will use chem-lights at night.
PACERS:
In an effort to prevent overcrowding on the trail, all pacers must be registered entrants.
PARKING:
To allow access to emergency vehicles, parking along the entrance road will be restricted to East side only (on your left as you enter the facility). The main parking area at the lodge has limited parking space and is first come/first serve. With that said, if you are not planning to stay on the trail for the entire 24 hours, I ask that you park either in the South parking lot which has access from Crow Run, on both sides of Crow Run or at the Moose Lodge located on Crow Run. There are also RV camping spaces at the Moose Lodge which is free but donations are accepted. Remember to lock your vehicle and do not leave valuables in plain sight!
THE START:
The event starts at the foot bridge of the dam in the main parking lot. Start time is 8:00 AM.

There is a no refund policy. All entries are non-transferrable and there are no deferrals.
Race participant cut-off is 500. Once the cut-off has been reached there will be an option to add your name to a wait list. We will begin activating names from the wait list once the number of entrants drops below 500. When your waitlist entry has been activated, you will have 48 hours to register before the link expires.
If you are registered and for any reason cannot attend, please contact me so those on the wait list will have a chance to participate.
This is a USATF Sanctioned Event
5K Trail Run starting on the Sandhills Community College campus and winding through the beautiful Southern Pines Reservoir Park. The course is officially certified by the USATF (Certificate #NC22019BDS). Race timing provided by Gate City Timing Company.

In-person race registration & packet pick-up will be available on Friday, Sept. 25 from 4-6:00pm at Pace Yourself Run Co. (PYRC) in downtown Southern Pines (205 NE Broad St.) or on-site at Sandhills Community College the morning of the race from 7-8:30am.
Weather Policy: This event will take place rain or shine. In the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions (e.g., lightning, high winds, or flooding), the event may be delayed, modified, or canceled. Participant and volunteer safety is our top priority. The Sandhills Sasquatch is a repetitive 1-mile loop around the scenic Weymouth Woods Boyd Tract Loop in Southern Pines, NC. The route is a well maintained and well-marked trail that take you around the beautiful Weymouth Center property and past the oldest known living Long Leaf Pine Tree, estimated to be over 470 years old.
The race is simple, complete as many 1-mile loops as you can in 4- hours! Or register for the three loop 5K option.

This is a self-paced event. For the 4-hour option, run as many miles as you can in the prescribed time or until you decide to stop. The runner that covers the most distance in the prescribed time is declared the winner. Runners are allowed to run, walk, and rest as needed for the duration of the event. Laps will be recorded by the race organizers. The event organizer will have an aid station set up at the start finish line with water, Gatorade, and snacks. Participants can set up personal tents, tables, and aid stations in the park area by the start finish. The 5K option is three loops along the same course with a 1-hour cutoff time. 5K runners are welcome to continue laps and opt into the full challenge at any time if they choose.
There will be prizes for the top male and female for both the 4-hour and 5K events.
Participants will receive an official race t-shirt and finishing medal. T-shirts cannot be guaranteed for registrations after October 12, 2026.
The 42nd Annual Seaboard Festival 5K is a very historic Seaboard Railroad themed 5K that takes you through a residential neighborhood with rolling hills in downtown Hamlet NC. The top 350 finishers will receive a custom Railroad/Halloween themed finishers medal. Awards will also be given to the top 3 male and female finishers. Age group awards will be awarded 3 deep in 10 year age groups. We are proud to be able to offer three scholarships at Richmond Community College through donations and race registrations.

Derby 50k
Registration ends Nov 23rd or when we reach full capacity, Entries are first come first serve. We do not maintain a wait list.
In addition, we ask that you also bring some dog and/or cat food so that we may help
the Richmond County Animal Advocates. They will have a van onsite for the food donations.
Your race number is your packet and ticket for lunch and can be picked at the
Derby Community Building at 7:00 am Saturday morning.
There will be spaghetti plates at the Derby Community Building. It will come with a salad, drink, cake, banana pudding, and pies. The "church ladies" from Jones Springs Church provide the meal. There will also be a non-meat sauce for vegetarians/vegans. It has been quoted that the homemade cakes and banana pudding, are worth running 31 miles. The money goes to the Derby community needs, church, fire dept. etc. The pasta lunch is also open to the general public for $7.00 a plate. The meal is free to runners. Your race number is your ticket for food.
Please, no alcohol on the premises.
The course will start and finish in front of the Derby Community Building and it will be run in a counter-clockwise direction facing traffic. The turns and some straights will be marked with yellow arrows painted on the highway. It's your responsibility to look for them. It's 31.5 miles on 3 loops of rolling hills in a beautiful country setting on asphalt and dirt. It's a great event for those wanting to do their first ultra run. This is a 31.5-mile fun run with no bells & whistles. The course is not closed to traffic. Derby Road is in the middle of nowhere but travelers use it to get somewhere. SO, IN ADDITION TO EXERCISING YOUR BODY PLEASE EXERCISE CAUTION! This is a very low key, no frills race. If you are expecting port-a-potties, expos or to be waited on, I suggest you stay home.

Marathon:
Run 2 miles β turn right
Continue 11.1 miles to the turnaround
Reverse course back to the finish
Around mile 22, youβll face the famous climb to Bethel Church
Boston has Heartbreak Hill β Mangum has its own.
Half Marathon:
Turn around at approximately mile 6.55
Reverse course back to the Dog Pen finish
