Juneteenth is an annual observance to celebrate the date Union soldiers enforced the Emancipation Proclamation freeing all remaining slaves in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865. Texas was the last state in rebellion, following the end of the Civil War, to allow enslavement.
The Pine Grove Association sponsors the 5K Run/Walk as a way to commemorate the history of Juneteenth. The 5K highlights the rich history of Canton, MS, while encouraging people to be free from health disparities by living healthy lifestyles, including movement.
THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY REGISTRATIONS.
