THE THUMBS UP MOVEMENT
Thumbs Up was founded in 2014 by several community members in honor of two great men, Bob Schmit and Chuck Dahlheimer, who, like many others, took their lives after living in silence from a mental illness. Thumbs Up is all about EMBRACING those struggling and breaking the stigma around mental health, connecting, supporting, and encouraging one another to talk about their feelings and challenges and to "KEEP MOVING FORWARD."
We are dedicated to educating and teaching about mental illness, the warning signs of suicide, what you can do to help others who struggle, and community awareness initiatives.
So, let's UNITE to help others to KEEP MOVING FORWARD.
MISSION STATEMENT
Bringing awareness to mental health and providing support and resources to all.
#KEEPMOVINGFORWARD

Why the SISU Backyard Ultra?
The SISU Backyard Ultra at Lake Rebecca brings together running, grit, community, and a true Finnish touch — complete with a sauna and swim option after your run.Inspired by the Finnish word sisu — meaning determination, toughness, resilience, and the willingness to keep going when things get hard — this race is built to challenge runners of all experience levels. The format is simple, but the challenge is not: runners complete a 4.167-mile loop every hour, on the hour. Finish the loop with time to spare, and you can rest, refuel, change gear, hit the sauna, take a swim, or get ready for the next start. When the next hour begins, everyone still in the race starts again. If you do not finish the loop within the hour, or you are unable to start the next loop on time, your race is over. Everyone else keeps going. That is the beauty of the backyard ultra: there is no set finish line. Your goal might be one loop, a half marathon, a marathon, 50K, 50 miles, 100 miles, or simply one more loop than you thought you could do. At SISU, every runner gets to define their own version of success. Our loop at Lake Rebecca will include a mix of gravel, asphalt, and trail, giving runners a scenic and varied course throughout the day and night.Whether you are attempting your first backyard ultra, chasing a new distance, or just coming to experience something different, SISU is designed to be hard, welcoming, memorable, and fun.Come run one loop. Come chase your first ultra. Come see how far you can go.Bring your crew, bring your friends, bring your stubbornness. This is SISU.

Have you been dreaming of running the Boston Marathon? Need to shave a few minutes off your qualifying time? Or maybe you're just looking for the perfect course to set a new PR? Whether Boston is your goal or not, the Bound for Boston Marathon & Half Marathon is for you.
We're racing around Fernbrook Elementary School, and the course is a 1-mile super flat & super fast loop! The Full Marathon is USATF Certified making it a Boston Qualifier!
This event is uniquely designed for serious runners. We will have water and an electrolyte drink at the aid table. Participants are welcome to bring their own personalized aid to place on the aid tables, allowing you to grab exactly what you need each time you pass. Many runners even bring a cheer crew to help hand out fuel and keep the motivation high throughout the race.
To maintain the best possible experience, this is intentionally a small, focused event, capped at just 75 participants.
We will have a great race shirt and finisher medals for all participants. Awards for both distances are in the usual 5-year age groups.
Fast course, flexible support, and a chance to chase your goals—this is the race that lets you run your perfect day.
By design this will be a smaller event, focused on getting you your fastest time.
Check-in will open at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The race will start at 10:00 AM.
NOTE: Registration will be open online until September 11th @11:59pm, and will be available in person the morning of the race. T-shirts will only be guaranteed for those registering online prior to September 1st. We will do our best and give you a shirt if we have some extras, but shirts are not guaranteed if registering after 9/1.
The course starts at the Osseo Senior High track, continues through residential Osseo, and finishes along Central Avenue.
The race will be chip-timed and results will be posted online. There will not be a formal awards program, but medals and prizes will be awarded at the finish line to the top female and male finishers in the following age categories: 0-10, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+.

Welcome to the 12th Annual - 2027 White Continent Marathon & 1/2 Marathon®!
For 2027, we will once again camp overnight on King George Island, Antarctica. During the race, runners will be cheered on by penguins and seals. Following the races our runners have been able to enjoy excursions to a penguin colony, where they saw Gentoo, Adelie & Chinstrap penguins. They have also explored the nearby Russian Research base and their ornate Orthodox Church. Those options may be available in 2027 as well, time and weather permitting.
We are proud to be the Antarctic race with the most world records set at it, including: the first female hand cyclist to complete a Marathon in Antarctica (and now all 7 continents); the youngest female to complete a marathon on all 7 continents (in 2014 by a 15 year-old and again in 2015 by a 12 year-old); the youngest male to complete a marathon on all 7 continents (age 11 & age 10); the shortest number of days to complete 7 official marathons on 7 continents by a tethered group; the shortest number of days to complete 7 official marathons on 7 continents (both female & male), the shortest number of days to complete 7 official half-marathons on 7 continents (both female & male) and in 2017 the oldest male to complete a marathon in Antarctica and marathons on all 7 Continents (age 77 and age 78) and many others. And in 2020 we had the largest group of African-American runners to complete races on Antarctica (27 runners!!). It is overwhelming and extremely gratifying to see everyone
accomplish their dreams at The White Continent Marathon!
The TENTATIVE dates for the 2027 WCM are: January 17-25, 2027.
We recommend registering as soon as possible as demand is high and spaces are going quickly.
Event Info
The 2027 White Continent Marathon & 1/2 Marathon® is the only opportunity for those who want to run a marathon in Antarctica to achieve that goal within one week's time. The other Antarctic race options require a minimum of 14 to 20 days. Also, please note that our event is only one of two known events to run on actual Antarctic land.
In addition, for those of you who are prone to sea sickness, which is a frequent occurrence when crossing the treacherous Drake Passage, there is no need to worry. We will cross the Drake Passage at a smooth and comfortable 31,000 Feet. As such, you don't need to be concerned with being sick the day prior to running the marathon, as you might if you were to boat across The Fiery Drake.
Given the tremendous success of our 2013 - 2025 events, you will not want to delay in signing up as this Adventure is surely to reach its limit quickly.
Price Info
For the 2027 White Continent Marathon & 1/2 Marathon® Adventure, the prices are as follows: Double Occupancy (you will be rooming with another person you are traveling with) - $15,350; Single Occupancy (you will have a hotel room to yourself) - $15,950.
Antarctica Information:
Antarctica is Earth's southernmost continent. King George Island is one of many of Antarctica's islands just off the peninsula of Antarctica. The land that today is known as King George Island physically separated from the Antarctic Peninsula roughly 20 million years ago as a result of magmatic arc and seafloor spreading geologic processes. What is now called by some as the "South Shetland micro tectonic plate" is actually a fragment of the larger Antarctic Tectonic Plate that broke off as a result of those geologic processes. King George Island sits atop the Antarctic Continental Shelf.
King George Island, Antarctica is home to many research bases from a number of countries including The United States, Chile, China, Russia, Uruguay and others. It was host to the only rock concert performed in Antarctica by Metallica back in 2013. That concert made Metallica the only band to have performed concerts on the Original 7 Continents. The 2027 White Continent 50km, Marathon & Half-Marathon® courses run between the Chilean and Chinese research bases. Our campsite, will be set up along the course and will provide runners the opportunity to refuel during the race and, if needed, allow for a change of clothes.
Welcome to the 2nd Annual – 2027 White Continent TriathlonTM!
In December 2025 History was made. A group of 6 brave pioneer triathletes succeeded in completing the first ever swim, bike, run competition in Antarctica. Marathon Adventures is happy to be the first, only and pioneer in this arena. This event will be hosted in conjunction with our White Continent 50k, Marathon & Half-Marathon®. The Triathlon will be limited to 20 Triathletes.
The swim will consist of upto a 400 meter swim, followed by a 20 km bike, and concluded with a 5km run. Final distances will be determined based upon final approval from governmental authorities.
The Tentative dates for the 2027 WCT are: January 17-25, 2027.
We recommend registering as soon as possible as demand is high and spaces are going quickly.

Trail Kids Mountain Bike Programs are part of the Loppet Foundation’s Trail Kids year-round programming.
Trail Kids offers six-week mountain bike sessions for novice to advanced riders. Participants ages 7-13 will explore the paved & single-track trails in and around Theodore Wirth Park while gaining skills they can use for a lifetime! (for programming for 13 and older, check out LCW Juniors programs)! The focus of the mountain bike sessions is to develop skills, meet new friends, and have fun while building confidence riding single track trails.
Ability Level Guide: For those who have NO experience mountain biking on singletrack trails it is highly recommended that they take one of our Beginner Mountain Bike Clinics before joining the six-week evening sessions. When registering your child make sure to indicate their ability level as described in the Trail Kids MTB Skill Level Guide.
Ages: Ages 7 – 13, beginner to advanced abilities welcome; we split into different coaching groups based on ability, pacing, and age. We do not have programs for kids 6 years of age and under, so please do not register them until they turn seven years old.
Equipment Needed: All participants will need their own mountain bike, helmet, and water carrier (no bottle cage on handlebars - CamelBaks are a great option too!). Mountain bikes need to have both front and back wheel brakes on the handle bars (no peddle brakes). No kickstands are allowed. Tires must have tread and be wide enough to ride safely on mountain bike trails. For more on mountain bike equipment, view the Trail Kids MTB Equipment Guide.
*Please note that rental bikes are not available for our 6-Week offerings.
Swag: Trail Kids T-shirt and water bottle for all participants available at no additional cost. In an effort to reduce waste, TK Swag is now listed as an optional “add-on” during your registration. If you’d like your participant to receive this swag please ensure it is selected.
Friend Requests: For safety and equity reasons, Trail Kids does not offer friend requests as part of registration. The mass quantity of friend requests made it impossible to accommodate them all and greatly impacted safety and group dynamics. We would love to allow everyone to practice with their friends, but if we cannot accommodate all friend requests, we cannot offer them to everyone. We encourage riders to embrace the opportunity to form new friendships through our programs!
Weather Cancellations: While Trail Kids embraces the belief that the outdoors can be enjoyed in any weather, there are some weather circumstances, including high temperatures, thunderstorms, etc. that can create unsafe or wildly unpleasant experiences for our coaches and participants. We will occasionally cancel or shorten practices due to extreme weather. We make weather calls the day of, 90 minutes before the start of practice. We will contact you via email and/or Team App about adjustments to practices; please do not ask in advance. Assume practice is always running unless you have received an email or a Team App notification otherwise (be sure that you can receive Team App notifications and do not unsubscribe from RunSignUp). Due to the lack of adequate indoor space and additional programs utilizing it already, Trail Kids is unable to shift practices inside on days where we have inclement weather/AQI. In instances where practice is canceled due to inclement weather, we do not offer
refunds or make up practices.
Financial Assistance: To apply please fill out the Loppet Financial Assistance Application. We will follow up with you with instructions on how to register at a price that is manageable for your family. Applications for programs that start two weeks or less from the date of submission will not be approved. *Limitations apply, please see the application form for rules and restrictions. In most instances there will be a $500 financial assistance cap per person/per year.
Sibling Discount: For those families who have three or more kids in the Trail Kids offering we can provide a fifteen percent discount code. Please email [email protected] for more information.
Refund Policy: The Loppet will issue a full refund of the program fee minus the original processing fee up until 6 weeks before the program starts. Between 6 weeks and 4 weeks from the program start date, a 50% refund will be issued. Between 4 and 3 weeks from the program start date, a 25% refund will be issued. There are no refunds for any cancellations within less than 3 weeks of the start of a program. During the program, if your child has a medical issue that makes it impossible to participate, please contact the TK Admin team email at [email protected]. If the Loppet cancels a program, a full refund will be issued. For instructions on how to request a refund, click here.
