The Running To Honor 5K is a timed, family friendly walk (or run) focused on keeping the memory of our Fallen Soldiers & Veterans alive and reminding others that Freedom is never free. The event will take place on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 inside Heritage Park located at 12111 Pardee Rd, Taylor, MI 48180. The start time of the 5K walk (or run) is 8:00 AM in front of the Sheridan Pavilion. The Kids .5K will start at 7:30 AM.

The theme this year is military Veteran mental health. Every day there are 20 to 22 Veterans losing their battle with PTSD. That is a nice way of saying that they intentionally or unintentionally took their own lives. We are hoping we can educate others in the community about how Veterans go from serving our country to ending their lives way too early and more importantly what everyone can do make a difference in the life of a military Veteran so that tomorrow seems a little brighter for them.

We will also be saying the names of all of our Fallen Soldiers and Fallen Veterans before the 5K and walking (or running) in memory of them.

The Taylor Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4422, My Warriors Place and Running To Honor organizations will receive the proceeds raised from this event.

We recognize that families want to bring their kids to the Running To Honor 5K but the registration cost might be too much or their kids might not be able to walk (or run) 3.1 miles. As a result we have two events for kids 14 and under! We offer a special discounted price for the 5K walk (or run) and a .5K (that is Point 5K) which is roughly .31 miles. The hope is that this will encourage families to come out and support the cause.

If you can't walk (or run) just come out and enjoy the atmosphere and look at the names and picture of those Fallen Soldiers and Fallen Veterans that we have lost.
