For more than 40 years, the Irish Jig has marked the start of Michigan’s racing season. But 2026 isn’t just another starting line. It’s a turning point. On March 14, we’re not running for tradition. We’re running against a brutal truth: 1 in 2 people will face cancer in their lifetime. That’s not a statistic we’re willing to accept. This year, the Irish Jig becomes more than a race. It’s a stand. A statement. A surge of runners moving as one. Every stride fuels cancer research and care through Corewell Health and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Every step brings hope closer to home. This is not just a 5K. This is a rally for fighters, a reckoning with cancer, a reason to believe in something bigger. Join us. Bring your people. Fill the streets. Run. Walk. Cheer. Because we're taking the Jig WellBeyond anything it's been before.
New for 2026 is the Kids Gold Ribbon Run and Jig Virtual participation option. The Kids Gold Ribbon Run will take place at 9:30a on the East Grand Rapids Track, allowing kids to use their feet to raise support for pediatric cancer programs. The Kids Gold Ribbon Run is free to register, with an optional $25 commemorative shirt available. The kids will be broken into age groups and complete one lap on the track.
The Jig Virtual is an opportunity to participate in the movement from anywhere that works for you the week of March 9. Your shirt will be mailed out to you on race weekend. Registration for the Jig Virtual closes on March 7th.

Join Us for the 7th, Nathan Syrek Memorial 5K Trail Run & 1 Mile Walk where Big Hearts Wear Pink!
If you have a big heart and some trail shoes then this inclusive non-chipped trail 5K (or 1 mile walk) is for you. All ages and abilities will enjoy the run or stroll through through the beautiful apple orchards of Robinette’s (or cheer on others at the finish line). Avid runners, lace up and join us too, we will award the top female and male finishers of the 5k!).
The Nathan Syrek Memorial 5K honors the legacy of Nathan Syrek, who passed into heaven at the age of 19 after a courageous battle with cancer. This annual charity event celebrates Nathan’s spirit of kindness and faith while raising funds to support a local family facing significant challenges. We are honored to walk alongside and support the Seewald family and to celebrate the beautiful life of Zoe.
Zoe tragically passed away in a car accident on August 12, 2025. She is lovingly remembered by her parents, Adam and Jamie, and her beloved sister and best friend, Bella. Zoe was a tough, strong-willed “wild child” who stood up for others and followed her own unwavering moral compass. Her faith was deeply important to her—she loved and trusted Jesus and proudly wore her pink WWJD bracelet every day. Zoe also had a deep love for the outdoors, making a 5K held in her honor a fitting tribute to her adventurous spirit and the bold life she lived.
Note: The 5K route winds through the orchard with varied terrain that may be soft or muddy—after all, it’s spring in Michigan! For those with strollers or wagons, we recommend the 1-mile walk, which follows a firmer, established path for a smoother experience.
Bring the whole family! Enjoy kids’ activities, explore an array of exciting raffle items. Food also available. All proceeds benefit the Seewald family.
We hope your big heart will join us in your favorite shade of pink to celebrate Zoe & honor the sprit of Nathan.

All 5K participants receive an official race t-shirt, finisher medal, and a ticket to attend the 2026 Lantern Festival.
Young runners can participate in the Wolverine Worldwide Youth Half-Mile, a fun and energetic race designed just for kids. Youth participants receive a race t-shirt and finisher medal.
The celebration begins at 5:30 PM with a lively pre- and post-race party featuring face painting, inflatables, a DJ, and local favorites Taquero Mucho Food Truck and Kona Ice. Come early, stay late, and enjoy the full Wild Strides experience.
Wild Strides is more than just a race — it’s a celebration of community, conservation, and kicking off Earth Day together.
The Amway River Bank Run, presented by Fifth Third Bank with Corewell Health as the Official Health Partner, is held every year in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan on the second Saturday of May.
This year, on May 9, 2026, we will be celebrating 49 years and are looking forward to filling the streets of Grand Rapids with the largest 25K road race in the country, which includes the USA 25 km Open Championships, 25K Handcycle, 25K Wheelchair, 10K Run, 5K Run and 5K Community Walk.
In addition to our in-person events, we offer virtual events that give individuals an opportunity to participate by completing the distance of their choice (25K, 10K, 5K, or 5K walk) on the course of their choice and any day that works between May 1 and May 31. Each virtual event offers extended finishing times (unlike the in-person course cutoffs) and having this flexibility makes the Virtual Race a great option for many runners and walkers. Plus, you still receive all the commemorative Amway River Bank Run Race Swag, which includes high-quality race shirts, premium medals and a virtual race bib.
In 1978, just over 1,000 runners took to the streets on the second Saturday of May for the first annual Old Kent River Bank Run. In 2001, Old Kent Bank merged with Fifth Third Bank, and the event was renamed to showcase its new owner. With the transition of race ownership in 2018 to Riverbank Events and Media , a group of leading community partners came together, including Amway, Fifth Third Bank and Corewell Health, to ensure the race would continue its longstanding tradition of filling the streets of Grand Rapids with runners and walkers, on the second Saturday of May, for years to come. In 2019, with Amway as the title sponsor, the race became known as the Amway River Bank Run, presented by Fifth Third Bank and Corewell Health as the Official Health Partner.
The Amway River Bank Run is proud to be celebrating 49 years in 2026 and we hope to see you at the Start Line!
The Amway River Bank Run presented by Fifth Third Bank with Corewell Health the Official Health Partner celebrate years of road running on the second Saturday in May on the streets of Grand Rapids. What are your kids doing this summer? Not only will Fast Feet Running Camp help answer that question, but also your kids become better runners. Fast Feet Running Camp will be led by Coach Mike Wojciakowski (Woj), who is USA Track & Field Level II certified coach who has a passion to work with youth. Coach Woj has spent over two decades coaching cross country and track at Aquinas College, along with being the coach for RunGR.
The Fast Feet Running Camp offers kids (aged 5-12) an introduction to the fundamentals of track and field. The camp will give future track stars a chance to gain experience, knowledge and skills in a fun, energetic atmosphere. An overview of proper warm-up, stretching, and nutrition will be tailored to each age group and coupled with drills and exercises to increase motor development and to improve flexibility. The values of teamwork and sportsmanship will be encouraged in our daily relay races, while positive reinforcement will act as a catalyst for increased confidence. The camp will also feature a daily snack, cotton t-shirt, and entrance into RunGR’s Magic of the Mile, which will be held at on July 9th.
To ensure that each kid is able to get Coach's attention, each group will be limited to 30 kids. Ages 5 - 6 will meet from 3pm to 3:45pm and ages 7 - 9 from 4pm to 4:45pm and ages 10-12 from 5pm to 6pm on July 6, 7, & 8. Fast Feet Running Camp will take place on Aquinas College's campus in the Alksnis Athletics & Recreation Building. To be guaranteed a shirt, kids must be registered by June 28.
For more information, email Coach Woj at [email protected] or call 616.856.0130. Fast Feet Running Camp is another great event brought to you by RunGR!
Running IS a team sport, and the Brian Diemer Family of Races Cross Country Team Challenge allows you and four (or more) of your friends to experience it all together. This event resembles a high school-style cross country meet, using standard scoring and a 5K course. If you don't have a team or enough people to make an entire team, let us know, and we will help you put a team together. We also allow participants to run without being attached to a team.
This year are back at Richmond Park in the City of Grand Rapids. The 5K course will feature mowed grass, packed dirt, and gravel. The FREE community 1 Mile Run, which is open to both youth & adults, kicks off the evening.
Here is an overview of the 2025 course, https://www.plotaroute.com/route/2330110. We expect the 2026 course to be similar. It will be well-marked, with cyclists leading the way.
For a quick video on how a cross country race is scored, check out this video or simply ask us.
How to Register
We tried to make it easy for you to register and start your team (if you have one). The first person on your team to register can create the team. From there, that person can share the team name and a link for others to join. We also activated the features that allow you to change your team name and the type of team you have (female, male, coed). We are also happy to help with all of this.
If you don't have a team yet (or don't want the pressure of creating a team name), no worries! Go ahead and register yourself, and we can help you form a team later. We also allow participants to run solo, unattached from a team.
When in doubt, ask! Remember, teams can range from 5 to 7 individuals, with only the top 5 places counting towards your score (with any other runners on your team helping to block other team members from securing lower points). Coed teams do not require the number of males or females they have on them, just at least one member of the opposite gender.
The 5K portion of the event is chip-timed.
We have youth pricing turned on so anyone under the age of 20 will receive a $10 entry. Contact us at [email protected] if you would like to set up your team so members can all register for free, with a single invoice issued after the event.

By doing this, No Surrender knows it can empower youth, strengthen families, connect communities, and build representation in sport. With its first ever race, No Surrender aims to center communities of color, break down barriers to participation in running events, create a fun environment where community members can move alongside one another, and build representation in running.
We're so excited to see you run, walk, or roll at the only race in 49507!

Purpose
With a focus on health and wellness promotion, the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held its first Annual Latino Health 5K Run/Walk in September of 2015. The goal was to encourage Hispanic families to maintain a healthy lifestyle and incorporate physical activity, such as running or walking, into their daily lives.
The WMHCC believes that by showcasing the fun side of physical activity through a family-oriented 5K walk and run, participants can feel energized and prepared to continue striving toward better overall community health. The run/walk begins and finishes at Roosevelt Park where we will have our Finish Fest. Food, free kids activities and awards ceremony until 12pm.
While the event is geared towards the Latino community, all of West Michigan is invited to support the endeavor to promote healthy habits and balanced lifestyles.
Where
This walk/run starts and finishes at Roosevelt Park. The walk/run starts at 9:00 am.
Why
A Health and Wellness promotion with focus on the Hispanic community that has higher instances of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and strokes. The LMCU Bridge Run has been providing the community with a premier starting line to accomplish goals since 2002 and we invite you to join us in person or virtually to keep the tradition "running" (pun intended)! Whether you pick the 10 Mile Run or 5K Run/Walk, be assured you will have a great race day experience running through downtown Grand Rapids and of course, crossing the many bridges in the city.
The 2026 Bridge Run will take place on SUNDAY, September 20 and will be located on the west side of the 6th Street Bridge (use 731 Front Ave NW, Grand Rapids, 49504 in your GPS for our physical location). The historic 6th Street bridge is an icon and a favorite of our event participants. Both the 5K and 10 Mile routes will still go through downtown Grand Rapids (over a bonus bridge), with the 10 Mile still heading out through Riverside Park. You can view the tentative routes (we are still working with the City of Grand Rapids to finalize the details) by clicking on each distance: 5K | 10 Mile. You will notice that the 5K route is essentially the same for everyone, which will allow us to start BOTH races at 8am this year!
We are excited to bring back Kids Dash with the Crash of the Whitecaps, which will take place at 11:50am on SATURDAY, September 19 at the LMCU Ballpark (4500 W River Dr NE, Comstock Park, MI 49321). We will announce more about this event in 2025, but expect there to be a 200 meter and 400 meter option, kids will be able to select one or both. Bib pickup for the Sunday event will take place at the LMCU Ballpark from 10am to 11:45am, so come to pick up your bib and stay to cheer your future track star on.
Our race team is excited to put on this event for YOU! Check out the 2025 RACE WEEKEND GUIDE for FAQs and other good-to-know info. If you have any questions, please let us know by emailing [email protected]. We will update this for 2026 as race day gets closer.

The overGRound is a free, unsanctioned marathon and marathon relay through the city of Grand Rapids whose route showcases the variety of GR’s features and neighborhoods (beyond Butterworth and Millennium). This is an inclusive, supportive, and free running event celebrating community and a grassroots, no frills spirit of running and free fitness. It is a co-hosted event featuring the many wonderful running and fitness communities of Grand Rapids. Together, participating clubs can invite people out to run, cheer, and support runners on the course. The public is warmly welcomed to participate.
This will be the third running of the overGRound, the first (known) marathon held fully within GR city limits. Once again, it will be hosted by local participating clubs—to be announced soon!
This year the overGRound will be held October 25, 2026 at 8am, starting and ending at Veterans Memorial Park. The [subject to updates!] carefully designed course passes many coffee shops, a variety of neighborhoods, cityscapes, and parks before returning to Veterans Memorial Park.
Whether you run the marathon, organize a team to run the relay, or just show up to support the runners, let’s make it once again a fun, unique, out-in-the-open Grand Rapids event that goes beyond the norm.
More details:
All paces welcome to participate, with every participant from last to first getting a welcome back at Veterans Park
This is mostly a self-supported event, but there will be wayfinding guidance, aid stations on course, and bikers and volunteers who will check in with runners
The marathon relay is open to any team configuration or leg distances; the coffee shops make good changepoints but "y’all do y’all" to complete the 26.2
We encourage you to bring your own bibs and have fun with them
The 2026 edition of the Participant Guide is not yet available—we will email you when it’s ready!
The Facebook event is HERE for reference
You are welcome to do any combination of the following: a) run the marathon, b) run as part of a relay marathon, or c) volunteer to help this event be a success, d) come out and cheer (just show up on the course, or at Veterans Park, on race morning).

Occasionally we get questions about bringing a stroller on the trail. The trail uses a single track mountain bike trail with wooden bridges. If there is snow it will be a tough push.
We also get questions about bringing dogs to the race. The the trail is very narrow so we don't recommend bringing your four legged friend.
