Question: What's better than getting together bright and early and going for a walk or a run? Answer: Walking or running with credit union peeps at the Michigan Credit Union League Annual Convention and Expo to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network!!!
The Credit Unions for Kids 5K Fun Run/Walk for the Children's Miracle Network is powered by the Mid-Michigan Chapter of Credit Unions on Thursday, June 4th, at 7:30am!
The run/walk will take place on the river walk - right behind the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel and DeVos Place. Easiest way is to get to it, is head towards The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck, take a right and head out the door (you can exit out this door, you just cannot enter that way). Easy-peasy to find, just head toward the water. The 3.1-mile course starts on the riverwalk, will make a loop around the river walk, with a portion of the race veering off the river walk. You are free to run or walk whatever distance and pace, 1 mile, 2 miles, 3 miles, we got you covered!
So, 7:30am is a bit too early for you or you won't be able to join us in Grand Rapids this year? No worries! Join us in spirit via our "virtual option"!
By the way, this is NOT a timed event, and you get to decide how far you want to go! So, no need to get goofy about your time, just a fun and healthy way to start the day off on the right...foot! But the MOST important thing is...this is just another way to help raise money for the Children's Miracle Network!
To be guaranteed a shirt, you must register by Friday, May 22nd. We do order extras, but shirt size cannot be guaranteed.
So here's the scoop:
When: Thursday, June 4th
Time: 7:30 am
Located: Amway Grand Plaza Hotel and DeVos Place
Distance: However far you want to go! It is a 3.1-mile course; however, we will have miles marked at the 1, 2 and 3 Miles. Distance is up to you!
The “Virtual Run/Walk": You get a shirt and bragging rights that you helped the Children's Miracle Network
Registration is $50
Additional Donations are enthusiastically accepted!
*The with shirt option is available ONLY until midnight, Friday, May 22nd. We will have extra shirts the morning of; however, they will be given out on a first come basis.

Running IS a team sport, and the Brian Diemer Family of Races Cross Country Team Challenge allows you and four (or more) of your friends to experience it all together. This event resembles a high school-style cross country meet, using standard scoring and a 5K course. If you don't have a team or enough people to make an entire team, let us know, and we will help you put a team together. We also allow participants to run without being attached to a team.
This year are back at Richmond Park in the City of Grand Rapids. The 5K course will feature mowed grass, packed dirt, and gravel. The FREE community 1 Mile Run, which is open to both youth & adults, kicks off the evening.
Here is an overview of the 2025 course, https://www.plotaroute.com/route/2330110. We expect the 2026 course to be similar. It will be well-marked, with cyclists leading the way.
For a quick video on how a cross country race is scored, check out this video or simply ask us.
How to Register
We tried to make it easy for you to register and start your team (if you have one). The first person on your team to register can create the team. From there, that person can share the team name and a link for others to join. We also activated the features that allow you to change your team name and the type of team you have (female, male, coed). We are also happy to help with all of this.
If you don't have a team yet (or don't want the pressure of creating a team name), no worries! Go ahead and register yourself, and we can help you form a team later. We also allow participants to run solo, unattached from a team.
When in doubt, ask! Remember, teams can range from 5 to 7 individuals, with only the top 5 places counting towards your score (with any other runners on your team helping to block other team members from securing lower points). Coed teams do not require the number of males or females they have on them, just at least one member of the opposite gender.
The 5K portion of the event is chip-timed.
We have youth pricing turned on so anyone under the age of 20 will receive a $10 entry. Contact us at [email protected] if you would like to set up your team so members can all register for free, with a single invoice issued after the event.

Join the No Surrender Running Club for its 5k & 10k race + 1 Mile Fun Run and celebrate movement as a community! The event will start and end at the Kroc Center and follow the Plaster Creek Trail.
For over 10 years, No Surrender Running Club has been the only West Michigan organization that builds and expands access to movement for all by breaking down barriers to sport and play. By doing this, No Surrender knows it can empower youth, strengthen families, connect communities, and build representation in sport. With its first ever race, No Surrender aims to center communities of color, break down barriers to participation in running events, create a fun environment where community members can move alongside one another, and build representation in running.
We're so excited to see you run, walk, or roll at the only race in 49507!

The Alger Heights Halloween 5k is a volunteer led, neighborhood focused 5k fun run. We are a 'small town in a big city' event that seeks to include all individuals and support the betterment of our local community. From runners seeking their next PR to walkers in costumes all 5k participants are chip timed as the run through the scenic Alger Heights neighborhood during peak fall colors. We are excited to be back for 2026 with our 14th edition on Saturday October 31st and invite you to come run, jog, walk, or stroll in your best costume!
The 5k is just part of a greater neighborhood gathering. Like last year, we will be having a Community Costume Contest - NO RACE REGISTRATION NECESSARY - and we have added the Neighborhood Cheer Contest that is open to everyone living along the route, see below for more details.
To enter the Community Costume Contest, swing by the photo booth (next to registration) to have your picture taken. There will be prizes awarded at 11:30am for the Costume Contest for best individual under 18, best individual over 18, best group (2-3), and best group (4 more) costumes along with a prize for the best Neighborhood cheer section along the course
