E.T./Evan Thomas Jesters
In memoriam for Coach Emeritus and 5k class founder, former Annapolis Striders President, marathoner Evan Thomas (a.k.a. E.T.), we will call ourselves "E.T.'s Jesters". We will continue his mission and love of running with a healthier lifestyle. "Regular exercise has saved my life," Evan wrote in his farewell Capital column in 2018. "Mostly, however, it has brought a joy I have tried to share with others.". In 1993 he formed the first Annapolis Striders Beginning Runners Program class. He has coached thousands of participants in the sport of running. Evan was well known for his humorous antics and quirky behavior during class and even wearing a jester's hat to always follow Rule #1: "Have FUN!" during class. The program is a Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) award winning beginning running class. We will have "E.T. made me do it!" on the back of our class shirts.

Program Description
Come join our “Get Off the Couch” Run/Walk Program for Beginning and Returning Runners!
The Annapolis Striders class is led by Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) certified running coaches. The coaches are also certified in CPR and First Aid.
This is an outdoor activity.
Whether you are new to running or returning to running, this is a program for you. This class is intended for all who are looking to “get off the couch with no running experience at all” and do a 5K (3.1 miles) distance. We also welcome those who have some running experience but who appreciate being able to run in a group and with some supervision.
The Winter (starting Sunday, November 30, 2025) 5k Beginning Runners Program is a ten week run/walk program starting with a week one, 1 minute run, 2 minute walk over 20 minutes, three times a week with a gradual increase of running time of about 1 minute a week until week ten with a 20 minutes continuous run. Pre-run dynamic warm up exercises and walk with a post-run cool-down walk, static stretches are included. Class session duration is generally about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
The graduation race goal is the Valentine's Day 5K (Saturday, February 14, 2026). Race fees are separate and NOT included in membership fees, and participation in those races is not required to join the training program.. A race preview run is available to participants the weekend before the race.
Program Prerequisites: Participants should be capable of walking briskly for 20 minutes and should check with their health care professional prior to starting any fitness program.
An Educated Runner Is A Better Runner
The Program features weekly discussions on running topics such as shoes, running attire and gear, proper running form, hill work, heart rate zones, injury prevention, runner’s safety, nutrition, core training and cross training.

ASK THE RACE DIRECTOR LIVE 6PM THURSDAY NIGHT https://youtube.com/live/rlvIJ1Q71x0?feature=share
Your Athlete Guide is up to date and ready for you! Take some time and look over all of the details for your event! Our Half Marathon and 10k will notice a small change around Mile 2 (you run straight to Bladen then right on College to the circle, instead of Northwest). The Guide can also be found at www.NaptownRun.com
BUT our 5k should REALLY take a look. A whole new course for you this year, so that you join with the excitement of the other runners! And be sure to note that you START at 740, so be there and be ready to go with everyone else at 730!!
We've also got some exciting things lined up for the Holiday themed run, with Santa Hats for all and a visit by the Big Man himself!!! We also have a WHITE ELEPHANT gift exchange. Bring a present (under $10) and leave it under the tree for another runner. Wrapped, unwrapped (though let's face it, they are better wrapped), whatever.
The only thing we ask if that IF YOU BRING A PRESENT, THEN YOU CAN TAKE A PRESENT. We hope that everyone enjoys this and that everyone who wants to participate can do so (honor system here folks....).
ASK THE RACE DIRECTOR LIVE
Be sure to join us by clicking the link below, or check out the Rev3 YouTube Channel on THURSDAY AT 6PM (EST) to ask any questions you may have! We will talk about the changes to the course mentioned above, and talk through the White Elephant Gift Exchange, and answer any of your burning questions! Join us at https://youtube.com/live/rlvIJ1Q71x0?feature=share
Join us on December 20th for a HOLIDAY HUSTLE themed event! Show off your holiday spirit and join us on Saturday, December 20th, 2025 as we Run Naptown! The Half Marathon, 10k, or 5k distances are the perfect way to wrap up your year of running, with our USATF certified half marathon course. Set your PR for 2025 as we start from the US Naval Academy and travel in to downtown Annapolis, finally venturing out to the Baltimore-Annapolis trail (for the half marathon).
This year we are partnered with the FRIENDS OF ANNE ARUNDEL TRAILS to help their mission in promoting, protecting and enhancing the multimodal trails of Anne Arundel County.
Be sure to show off your Holiday Cheer this year, as we will be giving out Santa Caps to all! Prizes for the most festive runners will also be given out too! We can't wait to spend the holiday with you!! And who knows, we might have a special visitor for the young at heart to wish us all a Happy Holiday!
Also check out our White Elephant program this year! When you join us for the festivities, and you bring a gift for someone else, you can also TAKE a gift from the White Elephant table! Who knows what you will get. (We do ask that you only take a gift if you've brought a gift to exchange)
