About Colin's Joy Project:
Colin McGrath was killed in 2018 after being struck by a car on his way home from a wonderful day in the park. His life was full of love, laughter, curiosity. Colin lived every minute of his life to the fullest. His laughing eyes, beautiful curls, hilarious voice, and sense of adventure will never be forgotten. His smile made everyone's heart happy.
Since Colin's death, the McGrath family started a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization called Colin's Joy Project. The mission of Colin's Joy Project is to enhance play spaces and sponsor children and family programming in the South Boston and surrounding communities.
Colin's Joy Project has several active play space projects in development in South Boston inspired by Colin's Creativity Squad, an initiative that engages children in the community to design their own exciting, creative play spaces. Colin's Joy Project has also formed multiple community partnerships to which they have donated over $1.5M in the last 7 years! Through these partnerships, Colin's Joy Project fulfills their mission to bring joy to families the way Colin brought joy to all who knew him.
A donation to Team Colin will support these long-lasting partnerships and future projects. Learn more about our work on our website www.colinsjoyproject.org, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram (@colinsjoyproject) for updates!
parkrun is such a simple concept: turn up every Saturday and volunteer, walk, jog or run 5k.
The Powisset (pronounced “po-wiss-it”) Farm Trail Run is part of the Barn to Run Trail Race Series and the fall edition of this event takes place Sunday, October 25, 2026 at Powisset Farm in Dover, MA. The event includes running the trails of Powisset Farm and neighboring Noanet Woodlands and offers 4 race distances to choose from — 8.6, 5.6, 3.1 and 1.5 miles. This is a popular event with experienced and novice trail runners alike.
Come for the race... stay for the cider donuts! Post-race cider donuts are a staple of the fall races in the Barn to Run series. Bring the kids to see the animals, free pumpkin painting and to see all the farm has to offer!
Run.com ranked the Powisset Farm Trail Run one of the Top 12 Runs for Fall Color in 2025. Read about it here.

The Camp Harbor View 5k Road Race is Back! Join us for 3.1 miles (& a post-race party) in celebration and support of Camp Harbor View. The race course, designed by Dave McGillivray and DMSE Sports, takes runners through the iconic Boston neighborhoods of Back Bay and Kenmore along Commonwealth Avenue with the start and finish at the Boston Common. With a pre-race runner's village and post-race party on the Common, it promises to be a festive and fun morning for everyone!
All proceeds from the Road Race support Camp Harbor View and help change the lives of Boston’s youth and their families.
This is a weighted race
This is where weighted racing began. Join us for the 3rd Annual WWII Veterans Memorial Trail Weighted Race! In a weighted race, you have a time limit - 6 hours here - to do as many laps as you can, carrying as little or as much weight as you want per lap. Your distance is multiplied by the weight you carried, and the person with the most pound-miles (Kz*) wins. We’re working on some exciting changes this year that we'll update right here soon. But you can expect an out-and-back course of at least 2 ½ miles featuring paved, gravel and grass surfaces. We'll weigh your pack / plate carrier / whatever weight you brought at the start and finish of each lap, with the lower result being multiplied by the lap distance. So for example, if the course is 2.5 miles, carrying 30 pounds will get you 75 Kz for that lap. Add, reduce or keep the same weight on each lap; it's up to you. Can't carry as much weight as the competition? You might be able to get more laps in with less weight and still win. This will truly be a test of strength vs speed! But you'll have to FINISH your last lap before the 6-hour clock runs out. Rack up the most Kz in your division for the win! Once again the race will be held on Mansfield's WWII Veterans Memorial Trail, which is dedicated to the thousands of men and women who passed by this way along the former Old Colony Railroad Line from the staging area at Camp Myles Standish in Taunton, bound for their Boston port of embarkation for military service in all parts of the world.*What's a "Kz?" Quite simply, before we started doing these races, we had never seen a format quite like it, and "pound-miles" is a bit of a mouthful. If you invent it, you get to name it, right? So since our last name starts with "Koz," we'll go with Kz!

parkrun is such a simple concept: turn up every Saturday and volunteer, walk, jog or run 5k.

Stuff & Things
Jog Your Memory 5K, Inc. was founded in 2014 by Jess Rice and her husband Bob. Since then, the Jog Your Memory Board has grown to eight, dedicated members, who are all-in to help fight Alzheimer's. The non-profit hosts a 5K race and walk every year out of Needham in an effort to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's research and caregiver reprieve. To date, they have raised over $2.35 million; for the past twelve years, 80% has gone to research, and 20% has been set aside for a Caregiver Grant - a reserve used for those caring for loved ones who might need a little extra incentive to get the help they need.
The 2026 5K run and 1.5-Mile walk for Alzheimer's will offer flexible options. Our 13th Annual race will be held in-person in Needham on Sunday, October 18th and a virtual option will be available for those who are unable to make our in-person event.
Find more information on our story here.
The Esplanade Association (EA) invites YOU to enjoy a new season and new pace to support the same great cause! Rather than spring, we scheduled the annual 5K on Sunday, October 25—with hopes that a free parking day in the City of Boston amid fall foliage is a great opportunity to costume up and celebrate fitness and community in the park before Halloween!
Building on the successful history of our beloved 5K Race, we are also introducing a dedicated Walk in succession to the annual Run. This staggered option will allow more individuals (including dog walkers, strollers and rollers!) to participate at their own pace and comfort level, while keeping pathway safety in mind as to not overcrowd the course. Please keep in mind: This is a shared-use, public pathway.
There will be plenty to enjoy for 5K participants and fans alike, including fall-themed activities for the entire family, free samples from vendors, food, music, and more.
Spots will fill up quickly, so don't miss out on the fun and sign up today!

DOGS AND STROLLERS POLICY
We welcome families, walkers, and furry friends—but safety comes first!
Strollers and leashed dogs are permitted during the 5K Walk only. For the safety of all participants, they are not allowed in the 5K Run.
If you plan to bring a stroller or dog for the Walk, please review the following guidelines:
Start at the back of the Walk to ensure a smooth and safe experience for all.
Dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet.
Please ensure your dog is well-behaved, up to date on vaccinations, and comfortable in crowds.
Be prepared to clean up after your dog—waste bags are required.
These policies help ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone on the Esplanade.
