Colin's Joy Project 5K

Each season comes to an end with a celebratory 5K. This closing event gives program participants of all abilities a tangible sense of accomplishment. Crossing the finish line instills confidence through completion and is a joyful moment program participants always remember! Everyone who participates in our 5K receives a commemorative medal to celebrate this incredible achievement.

What's a 5K Buddy?

5K Buddy Registration will open on April 13

Every Girls on the Run participant at the 5K must run or walk alongside their chosen 5K Buddy. A 5K Buddy is someone 16+ who is responsible for encouraging, motivating, and keeping them safe on the 5K course and throughout the day. Each GOTR participant should be paired with one 5K Buddy. We ask that only one 5K buddy register per GOTR participant. Any additional people who want to participate should register as a Community Runner.

What's a Community Runner?

For the first time, the Girls on the Run Greater Boston 5K is excited to have a limited number of 5K bibs for community runners! If you've always wanted to experience the joy of a Girls on the Run 5K, now is your chance!

Girls on the Run participants and coaches are already registered for this event and DO NOT need to register again. This event will take place rain or shine. Please plan to join the celebration, whatever the weather brings!

The Cambridge 5K @ CambridgeSide is a flat and fast race through the heart of East Cambridge & Inman Square. The race starts & finishes at CambridgeSide and is immediately followed by a post-race party at the new CanalSide Food + Drink hall. Registration includes a short-sleeve technical t-shirt, 5 complimentary parking voucher, and a post-race celebration. The race benefits the MSPCA & the Helen K. Holland Animal Care Trust Fund.

After crossing the finish line at this year's Cambridge 5K @ CambridgeSide, DJ Smooth Bee will keep the party going at CanalSide Food + Drink, CambridgeSide's newly opened energetic food and drink experience featuring spectacular waterfront views, a collection of exciting eateries, and a centrally located bar. Redeem your 2 tear-off drink tickets at C-Side Bar for the signature 5K beer: Zero Gravity – Green State Lager.

This year's Road of Rainbows will occur on Saturday, June 6th, at the Brewer Fountain at the Boston Common.

It will mark the SIXTH annual running of Boston Theater Company's Road of Rainbows - the first athletic event of its kind in Massachusetts, where gender has no bounds. At ROR, you be YOU and run for YOU with love, support, and a team cheering you on!

The Road of Rainbows is an inclusive event that is as much about running as it is about showing off your inner unicorn. All genders are welcome, and it is for LGBTQ+ people and supporters.

BTC is committed to making this event economically inclusive. If you cannot afford a ticket, please email [email protected] to receive it for free.

Bib numbers are $40. BTC is committed to transparent pricing, so we offer Subsidized $30 and True Cost $55 tickets. We rely on our patrons' honesty to choose the ticket that best serves them.

9:30 AM Warmup led by LGM team

10:00 AM Race begins, followed by refreshments and live music

11:30 AM Awards and Recognition Ceremony

$15 for Adults, Free entry for children and youth under age 18!

• Free T-shirts for the first 250 people to register.

• All finishers receive medals and awards will be presented to top finishers in each age category

• Teams that register by May 15th will receive a custom sign along the route

Race Bib Pickup

Early Bib-Pickup: Friday, June 6th from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Let's Get Movin' office (250 Sumner Street, East Boston, MA)

Race Day Bib-Pickup and Registration: Saturday, June 6th from 8:30am to 9:30am at Memorial Park.

The program promotes physical activity, provides engaging nutrition education, and increases access to healthy foods to support the community.

Squirrel Run XXVII

The 28th Annual Jimmy Kennedy Memorial Run for ALS, (The Squirrel Run XXVI), includes a 5K run, 5k fitness walk and family fun day which will be held on Saturday, June 6th 2026 at Pageant Field, Merrymount Parkway in Quincy. Proceeds from the Squirrel Run will benefit The Angel Fund for ALS Research. Jimmy Kennedy lost his courageous battle with ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, in 1997 at the age of 31. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in the 5k run and a 5k walk that begins with registration at 8 a.m. The 5k run at 10 a.m followed by the 5k fitness walk at 10:00 a.m. Children’s events begin at 11 a.m.

Registration

The registration for the 5k and 5k fitness walk will be $40 before June 1, 2025 and $45 after that date. The first 150 online registrations will receive a free goodie bag and all registrants will get a souvenir t-shirt. Break Rock Brewing Co. will also be on site from 11AM-1PM offering free samples as well as selling cans for post run refreshment!. Numbers will not be mailed prior to the race. We do accept same day registration.

Children’s races, games and rides will be held from 10am – 12pm. The registration fee will be $15 per child.

Entertainment and Awards

In addition to the race and walk, the day will be filled with entertainment for children, plenty of refreshments, and awards for competitive runners in all divisions for men and women. There will be trophies, gift certificates, and other awards for the 5k race.

Bib Pick Up

Early bib pick up will occur on Thursday, June 4th from 5:00-7:00pm at Pageant Field (race location). Pageant Field: 1 Merrymount Parkway, Quincy, MA 02170. Otherwise, bib pick up will start on race day morning starting at 8:00 AM
