You have three race options that will test your will to endure as you race, run and climb amidst the height of New England’s autumn. You will navigate the historic Midstate Trail following it's pre-marked yellow triangle blazes. The Midstate Massive Ultra Trail is your doorway to adventure and discovery. A point to point race with Wave Starts So why wave starts?Wave starts are what make this race possible. We start runners slowest to fastest for both the 100 and 50M events to minimize the impact to the trail and to ensure on-course support throughout each race. Aid Station cutoff times are based on this model. Your estimated pace is critical in helping us seed you in the proper wave. Therefore it’s important that you provide as accurate a prediction
of your estimated pace as possible. Please note that if you outrun our support, you risk arriving at an Aid Station without food, water and/or medical support. We reserve the right to hold any runner that is outrunning the race support as defined by the Aid Station Open and Close times. How to update your estimated pace As you dial in your training, you can edit your estimated pace up until registration closes through your Ultrasignup account. See here. Intro
We have designed one of the most technical and scenic courses possible in a location that was once brimming with fire...yes...'Pawtuck' was once a volcanic site. We think the race’s namesake – the Roman God of Fire – would be proud of a course that will have you traversing a massive boulder field, tearing through dense forest, hammering down single-track switchbacks, jumping streams, crossing bridges and heading up a rocky slope appropriately named the Devil’s Staircase. The lava making up the park has long cooled, but your legs will be burning. This is a rugged trail race who's distance and elevation profile combine for a very challenging test even for the fittest endurance athlete. Make no mistake about it, the course travels along hiking trails with sections that must be negotiated very carefully. Run at the peak of NH foliage make sure to steal a peek or two at the highest elevations...it'll be worth the effort. There will be three (3) aid stations with water and other supplies along the course. Half Marathon Start Time: 9am5 Miler: 9:15am There is no early bib pick up. There is NO day of registration Bib pick up 7:30 to 8:30am day of. Half Marathon unpleasantness: Cut off at aid station 2 / Mile 7.7 is 2.5hrs. If you do not make this you will be given a ride back to the start finish line. Cut off at aid station 3 / Mile 10 is 3.5hrs. If you do not make this you will be given a ride back to the start finish line.

Jog Your Memory 5K, Inc. was founded in 2014 by Jess Rice and her husband Bob. Since then, the Jog Your Memory Board has grown to eight, dedicated members, who are all-in to help fight Alzheimer's. The non-profit hosts a 5K race and walk every year out of Needham in an effort to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's research and caregiver reprieve. To date, they have raised over $2.35 million; for the past twelve years, 80% has gone to research, and 20% has been set aside for a Caregiver Grant - a reserve used for those caring for loved ones who might need a little extra incentive to get the help they need.
The 2026 5K run and 1.5-Mile walk for Alzheimer's will offer flexible options. Our 13th Annual race will be held in-person in Needham on Sunday, October 18th and a virtual option will be available for those who are unable to make our in-person event.

This is a weighted race
This is where weighted racing began. Join us for the 3rd Annual WWII Veterans Memorial Trail Weighted Race! In a weighted race, you have a time limit - 6 hours here - to do as many laps as you can, carrying as little or as much weight as you want per lap. Your distance is multiplied by the weight you carried, and the person with the most pound-miles (Kz*) wins. We’re working on some exciting changes this year that we'll update right here soon. But you can expect an out-and-back course of at least 2 ½ miles featuring paved, gravel and grass surfaces. We'll weigh your pack / plate carrier / whatever weight you brought at the start and finish of each lap, with the lower result being multiplied by the lap distance. So for example, if the course is 2.5 miles, carrying 30 pounds will get you 75 Kz for that lap. Add, reduce or keep the same weight on each lap; it's up to you. Can't carry as much weight as the competition? You might be able to get more laps in with less weight and still win. This will truly be a test of strength vs speed! But you'll have to FINISH your last lap before the 6-hour clock runs out. Rack up the most Kz in your division for the win! Once again the race will be held on Mansfield's WWII Veterans Memorial Trail, which is dedicated to the thousands of men and women who passed by this way along the former Old Colony Railroad Line from the staging area at Camp Myles Standish in Taunton, bound for their Boston port of embarkation for military service in all parts of the world.*What's a "Kz?" Quite simply, before we started doing these races, we had never seen a format quite like it, and "pound-miles" is a bit of a mouthful. If you invent it, you get to name it, right? So since our last name starts with "Koz," we'll go with Kz!
