Geaux Bald 5K & 10K is a student-led charity race organized by second-year medical students at LSU Health Shreveport to support local cancer patients and their families. Founded in 2011, Geaux Bald raises funds to ease the financial and logistical burdens faced by patients undergoing cancer treatment. Proceeds from this race directly support the restoration of the McDade House, a hospitality home that will provide low- or no-cost lodging for patients receiving care at the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center. Nearly half of Feist-Weiller patients travel over 20 miles for treatment, often requiring multi-day stays close to the hospital. By providing a safe, home-like environment, the McDade House allows patients to focus on healing rather than housing. In the 2024–2025 year alone, Geaux Bald raised over $50,000 toward this mission. Join us by running, walking, or supporting the Geaux Bald 5K & 10K and help make compassionate care more accessible in our community.

Come out and run or walk the 10th Annual Heels Up Race!! This race will take place on March 21, 2026 in the beautiful Provenance neighborhood in Shreveport, Louisiana.

This event is for all ages with a Kids Fun Run and a 5K that you can run or walk.

100% of proceeds from this race supports The Hub Urban Ministries program Purchased: Not for Sale. Purchased exists to serve women and children who are victims of sex trafficking or leaving the sex industry. We do that by providing Rescue, Relationship, Resources, and Recovery.

    How do we do it:

    • Rescue: Giving survivors access to get out of the exploitative situation they are in and into a safe and stable environment is the first step in the healing process. Outreaches, community trafficking tips and law enforcement partnerships are the main ways that Purchased is a part of the rescue for women and children in our city.

    • Relationships: By surrounding women and children with healthy relationships on all sides, we can equip them to be able to endure the long process of healing and restoration.

    • Resources: Food, clothes, education, medical care, counseling and a safe home to live in are all examples of resources offered by Purchased to serve the sexually exploited in Shreveport

    • Recovery: The programs of Purchased give those who are working towards healing and restoration access to the tools and relationships they need in order to recover from their trauma. The programs address both recovery from substance abuse as well as recovery from trauma.

This race is run in honor of all the survivors of sex trafficking and to fight for those who are still victims!

All runners are invited to donate their shoes or bring a pair of shoes to donate on race day. If you donate your race shoes after you cross the finish line then you will receive a Heels Up water bottle and a chance to win a year subscription to Rise Up and Roast coffee.

    Hello everybody.

I am Gabriel and I am proud and happy to introduce to you my very first 5 K run/ walk. This race was inspired by the struggles that mother faced with a horrific disease called diabetes . My mother was an amazing woman who had taken care of herself and health the best way that she could while she was living with this disease. However, sadly she died last year August of 2024 due to diabetic complications . This was very traumatic for our family .

I’ve personally seen how hard it was for my mother to be able to afford her diabetic medicine when she really needed it , even with the insurance that she had . Having to pay for medicine while Paying bills and taking care of other house hold necessities can all be a lot to anybody. What a lot of people don’t know is that unfortunately, whatever insurance won’t pay most have to pay a remaining balance out of pocket. So , when I think about what she went through with this disease, and I think about how many other people are dealing with the same issue’s as she was . It makes me want to be a voice and lend encouragement to those who don’t truly understand that health is really wealth .

I want to thank you for being apart of this amazing event , let’s walk , run , grow and get fit together .
