Laissez les bons temps rouler! The Mardi Gras Madness 5K has officially reached full capacity, and registration is now closed!
The Lake Area Runners have capped the race at 150 participants to ensure the best experience for everyone. Because supplies must be ordered 4–5 weeks in advance, this allows us to guarantee that all registered participants receive their race shirt and finisher medal as promised on our website.

Race Route:
Route changed to an out and back race.
Start & End = Corner of West Pujo Street & Pithon Street. Travel South on Pithon Street and turn left onto Kirby Street. Travel East on Kirby Street. Turn right onto Ryan Street and travel south. Run along parade route on Ryan Street. Turn around at 17th Street (near Casa Manana). Return back to start via Ryan Street then turn left onto East Kirby Street, right onto Pithon Street to Finish.
This race route coincides with the Children's Mardi Gras parade route. The course travels along the parade route. The energy from the crowd along the route is motivating and joyful.

Refund Policy:
Entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. Once we receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate.
There are absolutely NO refunds, deferrals, or bib exchanges.
Lake Area Runners does not issue refunds if the event is cancelled due to circumstances out of our control such as: Acts of God, weather conditions, public health emergencies, acts of terrorism, etc.
We work incredibly hard to put on our races and we personally understand the training and hard work our runners undergo, so the last thing we’d ever want to do is have to cancel. We will run, rain or shine! Your safety as well as our volunteers is our utmost priority. If we foresee dangerous conditions that warrant cancellation, we will update you as soon as a decision is made via email and on our FaceBook page.
Cancellation:
This race route coincides with the Children's Mardi Gras parade route. If the City of Lake Charles/ Mardi Gras Association/ or other determines the route is unsafe for any reason (weather, or other) and cancels the parade route event, Lake Area Runners will be required to cancel the Mardi Gras Madness 5K.
If race is cancelled, notifications of cancellation will be posted to the @LakeAreaRunners and @LakeAreaRunnersForum sites on Facebook.

Parking available at the Lake Charles Event Center. Limited parking available in the Policy Jury lot on Pithon Street. Do not park on Pithon Street, Kirby Street, nor West Pujo Street!

ICCS PTO will be holding its annual Panther Run/Walk 10k, 5K, and 1-Mile Color Run on Sunday, March 1, 2026. The races and color run will wind through the streets of the beautiful Margaret Place District and along Shell Beach Dr. Please join us and support ICCS whether you run, walk or cheer! Proceeds from this event go to benefit the faculty, staff, and children of ICCS.
Brief Route Description:
10K
Start at Wilson St. and head north on Wilson toward Shell Beach Drive. Take a left on Shell Beach Drive. Take a left on Marine St at the port. Take a left on to Sallier St. Turn around at the 3.1-mile marker. Water station will be provided at 5K turn around point and 10K turn around point.
5K
Start at Wilson St. and head north on Wilson toward Shell Beach Drive. Take a left on Shell Beach Drive. This is an out and back route. Water station will be provided at 1.56 mile turn around point.
1-Mile Color Run
Start at Wilson St. and head North on Wilson towards Shell Beach Drive. Take a right on Pithon St. Take a left on Park Ave. Take a left on Griffith St. Take a left on Wilson St. Take a right on Grove St. Take a right on Harrison St. Take a Right on Wilson St. Finish at the starting line.

Bib Assignments

Shirts
Long sleeve performance t-shirts are provided to registered participants of the 10K, 5K & 1-Miler. If registered after the deadline, shirts may be received after the race depending on size ordered.
Additional purchases of t-shirts can be made online at RunSignUp.com registration site, or at Race Day Registration if available.
Weather
If there is lightning in the area, the race will either have a delayed start; route may be altered, or depending on the intensity of the weather, be cancelled. If fog is present, the visibility will determine if delayed start is necessary. The Race Director will make the determination.
If race is cancelled due to inclement weather or other reasons, notification of cancellation will be sent to registered participants via email and posted on ICCS Facebook page.
Parking
Parking is available at Lock Park, and ICCS Parking lot on Ryan Street. However, carpooling is recommended. We encourage courteous behavior toward our neighbors, refrain from parking in grass or on the streets. Please do not block any driveway. No parking on Wilson Avenue, Park Avenue or Shell Beach Drive.

The following actions are taken to provide runners with a safe course:

Lake Area Runners is hosting it's annual 3 miler on Saturday, March 14, 2026. This race is formerly known as the Athlete's Corner 3 Miler. Race will begin and end at the same location. Race is located at 1737 W. Sale Road, Lake Charles, LA 70605. Come run for fun! Runners are encouraged to come dressed in your St. Paddy's Day best!
Brief Route Description:
Start at Big Daddy's Sports Grill, then winds through the nearby neighborhood and ends back at Big Daddy's Sports Grill. This is a flat and fast course.

The Down Syndrome Association of SWLA invites you and your family to participate the Run your Socks off 5k +, in honor of World Down Syndrome Day! Our run will not be the traditional 5K (3.1 mile) but will be a 3.21-mile walk/run. The 3.21 represents that individuals with Down syndrome carry 3 copies of the 21st chromosome. So, our route will include that “little something extra”. We have also had a small group of individuals with Down syndrome who have been training to run or walk this event , so this will be their moment to shine and show our community their “capABILITIES”
We couldn’t think of a better day to host our run but actually on World Down Syndrome Day. We invite all runners or walkers with varying Abilities to join us.

Howdy everyone!
Thank you for helping me celebrate my birthday. As you know, I'm turning 29- not 30 yet so I thought it would be fun to do a 2.9k run/walk.
This little celebration will take place at Prien Lake Park on Saturday, March 28th starting at 8:30AM. According to the park's website, the park loop is .7 of a mile so our course will be that loop 4 times. Every registrant will receive a bib and a medal for completing their run/walk and are welcome to join for matcha and coffee at Stellar Beans.
The theme is green (and some pink) since you know I'm not that matcha older. So please wear green (and pink)! You know I love every opportunity to dress up. Of course, run or walk the course at your own party pace. Any and everyone are welcomed to register (it's free!) Thanks again for celebrating my birthday with me.
To clarify, yes- my birthday is March 27th but we're celebrating the next day on the 28th.

Race Tribute Signs ($25 each)
We are offering the option to purchase a tribute sign in memory of angel babies. Upon completion of your purchase, you will be contacted regarding details to design your tribute sign. The deadline to order is March 15, 2026.
Tribute signs are placed along the race routes. Only one tribute sign will be placed along the race route, but families are welcome to purchase more signs as they wish. Some families wish to hold or keep a sign.

Join us for our sixth annual Run Pro Rege (for the King)! This family-friendly 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk will be fun for all ages. Our aim is to bring awareness of classical Christian education to our community and help raise funding for our capital and scholarship needs. This is more than just a 5K. Kick off your morning with a scenic race along the Lake Charles Lakefront, from the Event Center to North Beach and back, and finishing inside the Sudduth Coliseum. Lake Area Runners presents 4 for the Fourth!
Lake Area Runner's hottest race of the year!! Come help us celebrate our nation's independence by running 4 miles for the 4th of July! This course is flat and fast, out and back race along the scenic Lakeshore Drive.
This event is open to both walkers and runners!
When we say it is our hottest race, we mean it literally. Please hydrate well prior to event.

Prizes will be available for pickup after the 4 Miler. The overall male and female winners will receive free race entries for all of our 2027 races!

Swamp Stomp Half Marathon & 1 Mile Fun Run
The Lake Area Runners presents the Swamp Stomp 1/2 Marathon and the 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday, December 12, 2026.
The race will start and finish at Graywood Park located at: 3861 Gray Market Dr., Lake Charles, LA 70605. This course through the streets of Graywood Plantation subdivision offers plenty of opportunities for your friends and family to cheer you on along the course! There will be multiple of water stops and port-a-potties along the course. Stay for the after party! Free food provided by Bolton Ford, refreshments, fun/games, and music for all our runners and their families.
The minimum age to register and participate in the Swamp Stomp Half Marathon is 14 years. Person must be 14 years old by December 12, 2026 to register.
Route Description
The Swamp Stomp 1/2 Marathon is a flat and fast course that winds through most neighborhoods of the beautiful Graywood Plantation community south of Lake Charles.
Get the kids active with our 1 mile fun run! This will be an out and back course starting and finishing at the 1/2 marathon starting line.
