    Death By A Mile

    Saturday, February 13th 2027 — Sam Houston Park

    Get ready for one of the most mentally and physically challenging races around. Death By A Mile kicks off at 8:00 AM and doesn’t stop until there’s only one man and one woman left standing. If you can’t—or won’t—finish your mile in the given time window, you’re out. Prizes go to the final male and female standing.

    Space is limited to the first 100 people who register—don’t wait!

    The Format:

    It’s just one mile.... Right?

    • 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM: Run 1 mile every 30 minutes

    • 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM: Run 1 mile every 20 minutes

    • 11:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Run 1 mile every 15 minutes

    • 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Run 1 mile every 12 minutes

    • 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Run 1 mile every 10 minutes

    • 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Run 1 mile every 8 minutes

    • 7:00PM Every 6 minutes until only two runners remain (one man and one woman)

    Course Info:

    The loop starts and ends at the large pavilion near the boardwalk at Sam Houston Park. The course will be clearly marked with flags.

    Aid Station & What to Bring:

    We’ll provide some food and drinks throughout the day, but this is a long event—pack like it.

    Recommended:

    • Nutrition, hydration, and snacks

    • Headlamp or flashlight (it will get dark)

    • Warm clothes (it might get cold)

    • Chairs, towels, blankets, coolers, etc.

    Night before on Friday, February 12th from 5–7 PM

    Race Day Schedule:

    • Check-In: 7:00–7:30 AM

    • Pre-Race Meeting: 7:45 AM at the start line

    • Race Start: 8:00 AM sharp

    Awards & Shirts:

    • Only one male and one female will be crowned champions and receive awards.

    • All registered runners will receive an event shirt, but you must register by January 1st to guarantee a shirt. No exceptions.

    Rules:

    • Be honest. Complete your full mile before returning for a bib punch.

    • Be respectful. This is a shared public park.

    • Keep it simple: Check in. Run your loop. Repeat.

    • Have fun! The format is social and a great way to meet fellow runners.

    FAQs:

    • Will it be cold? Maybe—bring warm gear.

    • Will it get dark? Possibly—bring a headlamp or flashlight.

    • Can I bring my dog? Sorry, no dogs allowed on the course.

    • Will the park/loop be open to the public? Yes, so stay aware and respectful.

    • Can spectators come? Absolutely! Just ask them to stay off the loop.
