The race will start on Old Ferry Road, near the south end of the Gibbstown/Conway Lebleu Bridge. The path goes north over the bridge out 1.55 miles and then back across bridge to the finish. While on the bridge participants will have sweeping views of the coastal marsh and the Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge. Age group medals are generally 10 year groupings.

Parking is under the south side of the bridge and along Old Ferry Road.
T-shirts are cotton unisex
Packet pick-up is the morning of at the bridge from 6:30 - 7:30 AM. Please show up no later than 30 minutes prior to race time which is 8 AM.
Race day registration is $40.
Proceeds benefit the Cameron Preservation Alliance - Sabine Pass Lighthouse Inc. which is a 501(c)3 charity dedicated to restoring the Sabine Pass Lighthouse in Southwest Cameron Parish.
This is part of the Cameron Parish Race Series (Triple Crown) for 2026.

Welcome to a different kind of triathlon! Get to see the entirety of our beautiful Sam Houston Jones State Park as you run and bike the trails, then embark on a kayak paddle on the Calcasieu West Fork River. The race consists of approximately 4 miles of trail running, 8 miles of mountain biking, and a 1 mile paddle on the river. Proceeds to benefit the trails at Sam Houston Jones State Park.

Death By A Mile
Saturday, February 13th 2027 — Sam Houston Park
Get ready for one of the most mentally and physically challenging races around. Death By A Mile kicks off at 8:00 AM and doesn’t stop until there’s only one man and one woman left standing. If you can’t—or won’t—finish your mile in the given time window, you’re out. Prizes go to the final male and female standing.
Space is limited to the first 100 people who register—don’t wait!
The Format:
It’s just one mile.... Right?

8:00 AM – 9:00 AM: Run 1 mile every 30 minutes

9:00 AM – 11:00 PM: Run 1 mile every 20 minutes

11:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Run 1 mile every 15 minutes

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Run 1 mile every 12 minutes

3:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Run 1 mile every 10 minutes

5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Run 1 mile every 8 minutes

7:00PM Every 6 minutes until only two runners remain (one man and one woman)
Course Info:
The loop starts and ends at the large pavilion near the boardwalk at Sam Houston Park. The course will be clearly marked with flags.

We’ll provide some food and drinks throughout the day, but this is a long event—pack like it.
