Moving the Pedal & Whine ride to Albion in 2024 was a great success followed by an equally successful 2025 tour. Riders enjoyed our scenic, low traffic paved and gravel routes with a post-ride meal provided by Albion Malleable Brewing Company. Join us for this ride on Saturday, August 1, 2026 and experience the small town hospitality and the quiet roads around Albion, Michigan. Sponsored by the Cascades Cycling Club, this very popular, fully supported ride has grown significantly since our first ride in 2013. StRides Against Suicide & Overdose 2025 is hosting a 5k Run/Walk and 10, 40, 60 and 100 mile bike rides to raise funds for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment for those in Northwest Indiana that are in need and cannot afford the treatment.
Strides Overview
We are addressing an important issue that affects many people. Our mission is to spread awareness and raise money. The annual U.S. suicide rate increased 30% between 2000 and 2020. SUICIDE is the 2nd leading cause of death amongst 15–34 year olds in Indiana. In 2020, 100,306 people died by overdose in the US. One major barrier to mental health and substance abuse treatment is cost/and or lack of insurance. Our solution is to fund that treatment. Profits from the StRides Against Suicide and Overdose 2023 will be used to provide scholarships for mental health and substance abuse treatment for clients who are uninsured or cannot afford treatment. Your involvement is critical to our success in reducing the devastating numbers of Suicides and Overdoses. Thank you again for your help.
Every $525 raised pas for one individual to receive 7 sessions.
Volunteer Here!
Before we jump into this year’s preview, let’s be clear about one thing: this 5K includes trails. Yes, trails. Consider this your official trail disclaimer.
We are excited to return to our original setup, starting and finishing on the high school track. There is nothing better than beginning inside the stadium and closing out your race with a strong lap on the track. Fast start. Fast finish. Wildcat style.
Because of ongoing construction in several areas around campus, this year’s exact route is still being finalized. Our team is designing a fun and adventurous course that embraces the spirit of this event. The finalized course map will be reviewed and posted soon.
You can expect a mix of surfaces that keeps things interesting. Portions of the trail, including dirt and grass. Some road sections to let you open up your stride. A combination that reflects cross-country grit with just enough pavement to stay fast.
This is not a pure road race. It is not a straight cross-country course either. It is a Wildcat Road & trail 5K, which means natural terrain, changing rhythm, and a course that rewards focus and effort.
And yes, in case you missed it, there will be a trail.
We will have food and drinks waiting for you at the finish line on the track. Please note that dogs are not allowed on the course. The event will be held rain or shine, though delays or cancellations may occur in the case of dangerous weather. No refunds will be issued.
So lace up your running shoes, trail-ready is encouraged, and get ready.
The trails are calling. And this year, they start and end at home.

Post-Race
Water and snacks will be provided after the race. Make sure to drink lots of water before and after the event! Afterwards, stay for the Huntertown Heritage Days Festival. Check out the Facebook page for a full schedule of events.
History of Huntertown
Huntertown was originally called "The Opening", after being settled in a natural clearing in the forest, in about 1837. Huntertown is located on the old Lima Plank Road connecting Lima (now Howe) and Fort Wayne. The Perry Centre Seminary was founded in Huntertown in 1856, only to close five years later when the entire faculty and adult students enlisted in the Union Army. The town was platted in 1869. That means that this year marks Huntertown's 157th year in existence!
