The red poppy is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died for our country in all wars. It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made by our veterans while protecting our freedoms.

Our American Legion Auxiliary Unit is proud to host this annual 5K Run/Walk. All proceeds go to support veterans and their families.

Registration and the race finish line are located near the historic Onarga American Legion Post 551 building, located on the eastern side of Onarga's Durham Park. Runners and walkers will follow a flat, paved route around the park and through the quaint streets of this small town. Members of the Onarga American Legion family will be on site to direct, support, and cheer on our participants!

All ages are invited to join! Strollers are welcome. Parents/guardians participating with minor children are responsible for their children.

Pre-race registration and packet pickup will begin at 8:15 am at the American Legion building. Restrooms are located on-site.

Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female runners, the top male and female youth participants (ages 5-14), and the top walker. All participants will receive a t-shirt and swag bag, filled with items donated by local businesses.

*A small parking lot is located at the American Legion building. Additional parking is available at the park's swimming pool and at the local school (Iroquois West Middle School, 303 N. Evergreen St.) Participants who park at the school will have a 6 minute walk to the registration area.
