Sprint Triathlon
CHI Health Mercy Corning and Lake Icaria are teaming up to put on the 3rd Annual TimberTri Sprint Triathlon at Lake Icaria in Corning, IA. The triathlon includes a 600-meter swim, a 14 mile bike ride and a 5K run, making it an excellent challenge for athletes of all levels. The beautiful scenery of Lake Icaria adds to the experience, as participants swim in the clear waters of the lake, bike through the picturesque countryside, and run along the scenic park trails.

Deal's Orchard is well-known for their award-winning sweet cider and they offer over 10 flavors of Hard Cider, all crafted from apples hand-picked in their very own orchards. Whether you're looking to run, walk, or simply enjoy the cider and camaraderie, this race promises a great time and an incredible experience! This race is timed and scored by J3 Timing. The Iowa Trail Run Series is not about spending a bunch of cash for no reason. You'll get a great race with clear marking and course support, with basic timing, a cool custom bib, and a rotating race item such as a BUFF, socks, a stocking cap, coffee mug, and aluminum water bottle. Signing up for the entire series includes a series gift! Do you want a really soft and comfy tri-blend shirt with one of our Animal Icons? Great! Add one during your registration. We know some people have enough stuff in their closet and others may want to commemorate the day! Plenty of post-race food to refuel! Games!
THE CAPITAL PURSUIT
Capital Pursuit is Capital Strider's premier 10-mile race that takes participants through the best parts of the City of Des Moines. 2026 marks the event's 44th year of racing, make sure not to miss one of Des Moines' longest-running traditions!
The Capital Striders are a member of the Road Runners Club of America, which promotes the development of community-based running clubs and events in the pursuit of health and competition for all ages. RRCA provides support and race insurance for many of its 2,500 member organizations.
WWY 5K (no one walks alone) is a family-friendly event complete with a 5K Walk/Run, a Kid's 1/2 mile run, coffee, food, face painting, and more! This event is hosted by Walk With You, a nonprofit organization that exists to walk with families as they experience the loss of a child. All money raised will be used to further our mission.
Prostate Cancer Awareness of Central Iowa is proud to present its fourth run/walk event. 100% of all proceeds stay right here in Iowa to help Iowans affected by prostate cancer. Since our inaugural event, we have donated back nearly $270,000 to the Iowa prostate cancer community. With your help, we can help even more Iowa men and their families. The Wild Boar Challenge is an off road obstacle course designed to push participants through a series of challenges that will test both their speed and agility as they navigate through the course. This is THE LOCAL RACE, that is run by a local organization that will not only raise funds that stay in Iowa, but will also let the participants contribute to design of multiple obstacles. Contributors Breakfast Club is excited to host a fun and challenging event that attracts a wide range of participants from around the midwest.
On Sunday September 27, 2026, the city of Des Moines will host the Midwest Greater DSM Half Marathon Series (formerly the HyVee Half Marathon) again with a co-ed format. Each event will offer a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and our popular Kids One Mile Fun Run for our youngest competitors. Starting and finishing just steps from the Polk County Courthouse on Court Avenue in the heart of downtown Des Moines, Iowa!
Returning for 2026: Each Half Marathon, 10K, 5K event produced by Premier Event Management will again offer an exciting youth event in each market. The Kids One Mile Fun Run will start and finish from our main finish line structure making the Kids event something extra special on race morning. Children from ages 5 to 15 are encouraged to join mom and/or dad on race morning to begin a lifelong lifestyle change at Kids One Mile Fun Run!

2025 RESULTS
2026 marks the 7th annual Blazing 5k. The last 6 years have welcomed elites and runners of all types. The 5k course starts on the back loop in Water Works Park and shoots out the gun going clockwise on the flat and fast loop. At the end of the loop the racers are greeted by a prize for the first person to cross the mat. From there it's another flat and fast main loop going clockwise. This area offers plenty of space for spectators and the field can be seen for almost the entirety of this loop. It finishes on the screaming fast and long straightaway to the finish.

I’m so excited to bring the 1st Annual B-INSPIRED 5K to our community — a fun, feel-good event all about movement, mindset, and showing up for yourself. This race is for anyone and everyone. Come be part of it — and let’s B-INSPIRED together. Kids 8 and under are FREE and do not require registering/will not have bibs or timers. Kids/Families will start at the back to allow those who are chasing a PR a clear path to get started!
If you know me, you know I pour my heart into two things: Letter Eats by B — the small business I built from the ground up — and prioritizing my health, both mentally and physically.
I’ve been called inspiring or “goals” — but truthfully, I’m just committed. I show up — for my business, my health, and the people around me. And this 5K? It’s my way of creating space for YOU to do the same!
If you’ve ever been to my shop, you might have noticed my “b-inspired” wall in the bathroom. It’s filled with encouraging messages from customers, friends, and family — words I often find myself looking at when I need a boost. It reminds me that you have to find the things and the right people to inspire you to keep going.
Whether this is your first 5K, or you’re just coming to walk and be part of something positive — this race is for you. Set a goal, chase a PR, or simply take a break from the chaos of life and move your body. There’s no pressure — just a community coming together to move forward.
Let’s remind ourselves that strength isn’t always about speed — it’s about showing up, pushing forward, and being proud of exactly where you are. Never compare your journey to anyone else’s.

Purpose: The B-Inspired Scholarship will be awarded to a Boone High School senior who demonstrates drive, creativity, and passion for their future. Whether their dream is to start a business, or to pursue a career in sports, exercise science, kinesiology, athletic training, or another movement- or motivation-focused field, this award celebrates ambition and the courage to chase big goals.
This scholarship represents both sides of my journey:

Athletics, Fitness & Self-Care – creating the B-Inspired 5K to encourage others to show up for themselves while reflecting my own love for fitness and self-care.
