Come join us for a fun walk/run of either 4 miles or 7 miles starting at Waikaumalo Park, located next to Waikaumalo Stream in Ninole, North of Hilo. We start at the park and walk/run along the beautiful scenic Old Mamalahoa Hwy and come back. Great for Training or just to enjoy the scenery.
- February 28, 2026. Start 7:30 am sharp, event ends 9:30 am.
** Timing, snacks and water provided.
*** Free to BIRR members (the $10 registration fee will drop off at the end if you are a member).

Swim the famous Kailua Bay 2.4 ocean swim course. During the swim you'll definitely see some sea life. Dolphins, eagle rays and sometimes a manta ray are all possibilities and you'll definitely see lots of different fish.
Proceeds from this year's event will be donated to Hawaiian Swimming to help fund top Hawaiian Swimming athletes particpation in the May 2026 Oceania Swim Meet being held in Fiji. The top Hawaiian Swimming male and female swimmers in this race will qualify to represent Hawaii in the open water swimming competition at the Oceania competition.

Join Big Island Road Runners on Saturday June 13, 2026 starting at 7:00 am for the Holo Kahakai Fun Run.
We will mark out 3 distances- 5k, 10k and ½ marathon. This event starts at the ocean front Kahakai Park in Pahoa. You will run/walk through the dappled sunlight under the canopy of old growth mango and lauhala trees along scenic Old Govt Beach Rd! Those running the ½ marathon will run to HWY 132 then up the Hwy about 1 mile before turning around and coming back the same way.
Meet at Kahakai Park in Pahoa – Run starts at 7:00 AM sharp. Event ends at 10:30 AM.
Directions: From HWY 130 take Kahakai Blvd which is just past the Pahoa Roundabout. Follow to the very end where you will run into the park.
Self-serve Aid Stations will be provided but bring your own hydration in case it is hot😊
Water and Snacks at the end.
Free to BIRR members, $10 donation for non-members.
If you are a BIRR Member the $10 donation will be dropped from your registration.
