Assault on Yonah Come run, hike and or ruck 2.5 ish miles from the bottom to the top of Yonah with us the last Sunday in September each year. How hard can it be? It’s 1650 vertical feet from the bottom to the top of Yonah Mountain in less than 2.5 miles. Why do we do it? Because the epic view at the top is that much better when you earn it. As we say, the juice is worth the squeeze. All runners upfront will be trying to break 30 minutes. Most people hiking will take 45 minutes to an hour and a half. You are only timed from the bottom to the top. Once you finish, hang out taking the views, take photos and then hike or jog at your own leisure back to your car. *** please note there is no race from the top back to the bottom*** you are only timed from the bottom to the top. Ruck For all those competing in the ruck division you are required to carry the minimum following weight:Women - 15 poundsMen - 20 pounds You are allowed to carry more if you want to challenge yourself further, this is just
the minimum that we require. Run Bum Races RunBumTours.com aka Run Bum Races, has been putting on safe and fun trail races for over 15 years now. We pride or selves on well marked, fun and scenic races in the South East. We hope you come and run this event as the first of many of our races. Safety We HIGHLY recommend that you have grippy trail shoes especially if it has been raining or the trail is wet. Parts of this race are non technical or gravel dirt road but other sections are rock gardens. You can slip. This event is NOT recommend for those who are not in shape, elderly or pose as a fall risk. The event goes up the mountain one way however you must get yourself back down the mountain under your own power. If you live in a flat area we recommend that you hit the gym twice a week for 20-40 minutes on the stair master. This will help tremendously. The time limit for the event is 2 hours 15 minutes....no exceptions. After that time you will not be given a time and be a DNF. We will also
have a cutoff at the first overlook / Old heli pad of 1 hour 15 minutes. If you do not make this you will be turned around there. All subject to change. We want to keep everyone safe and happy, especially the local Ems! Give back We help maintain the trail on Yonah Mountain and have cleared countless trees off the trail. We also regularly cutback overgrowth on the trail. You running this race helps keep the trail clear. THANK YOU! Swag & awards All finishers get a medal. To be guaranteed a medal you must be registered by September 15th. Top three male and female finishers get a custom handmade award. If you want a shirt those can be purchased separately and can be done so prior to August 30th here on the Ultra sign up page above by clicking "Store". We do not mail anything out prior to or after the race. It must be picked up in person. Course breakdown We will park everyone at the parking area then walk down to the paved road and start at the very bottom of the gravel driveway road. The
race will start there. From the start it’s immediately uphill. It’s about a 0.3 miles with 175 ft gain to the trailhead then it’s onto single track. That climb to the top can be divided into 3 sections. Bottom, middle and top. All of these sections gain a lot of elevation. The bottom: The bottom of the climb isn’t too bad but has some rocky bits. It’s the most gradual of the entire mountain and you have fresh legs. It even has some flatter sections. The middle: This likely has the steepest and most technical bits of the mountain however there are some sections for 30-100 ft where it gets flat and even a small downhill in a section. Below the old heli pad it’s very very rocky and one section you might need to use your hands to maneuver up. From the old helipad it’s .1 miles of 35% grade aka the steepest part. Eventually you turn right onto a gravel road thus entering the top section Top section:While this is steep it’s not the steepest. It’s also a pretty constant 12-20% grade. You legs are
also exhausted. This is about .75 miles of this as you wind around the mountain and eventually finish a top the summit in the field where we have a finish line set up! Event's current local time: 4:35 AM ET
The Mount Yonah Vertical Race
“Without mountains, we might find ourselves relieved that we can avoid the pain of the ascent, but we will forever miss the thrill of the summit. And in such a terribly scandalous trade-off, it is the absence of pain that becomes the thief of life.” —Craig D. Lounsbrough

The Course
The race course follows the Yonah Mountain hiking trail up to the summit of the mountain. From there you will pass the overlook before returning down the mountain. The trail is runnable in some sections, rocky and rooty in others, and a few spots require scrambling over boulders. The race will start with a quick out and back on the gravel road leading to the trail-head, this is so runners will thin out before hitting the trail. Each time you return from your summit, you will repeat the same out and back, this is necessary to achieve the distance and vert advertised. You may encounter hikers on the course, so use caution and be courteous.

The enjoyment of riding an amazing cycling route
2026 Course Description:
Nestled in the Bavarian Alpine village of Helen, GA the ride starts in the heart of the North Georgia Mountains. After rolling out of Helen the route hits the first timed segment at mile 2.5, where any riders with intentions of an overall podium finish will need to put their cards on the table from the start. The first time section immediately enters the mountainous area made famous by the 2003-2008 Tour de Georgia. In 2008, Unicoi Gap was the second to last climb on the approach to the race-deciding ascent up Brasstown Bald where Kanstantin Suitsou got the jump on Trent Lowe and Levi Leipheimer to win the event. As riders tackle this timed section they cover over 7 miles and climb 1500ft to the top of Unicoi Gap. The climb is very gradual for several miles, before turning into a real alpine ascent. Enjoy the vistas of the Chattahoochee National Forest on the descent before turning left and climbing up and over Jack’s Gap.
A left turn on Richard Russell Scenic Hwy will put riders face to face with the 2nd timed section, Hogpen gap. Within 6.5 miles and another 1500ft, riders will reach the highest point on the course at 3469ft with ramps of 12%. The views at the top of the surrounding peaks are breathtaking. Check your speed and be careful on the descent as there are many sharp turns. Enjoy the ride through the forest knowing that the hardest riding is behind you.
After tackling the two biggest climbs of the day riders will head east from Helen through Unicoi State Park. The route then hits the 3rd timed section at mile 46, comprised of rolling terrain for a 4 mile section. Riders then get to enjoy a non-timed section of the route for the next 30 miles as the route explore the area round Lake Burton and Seed Lake. Be sure to save a bit of energy for the final time section, it only last just over 2 miles but at over 80 miles in to the day you'll need to find some go go power.
The route finishes back into the landmark town of Helen where, in 1969, local business owners collaborated to create what is now called “Bavaria in the Appalachians.” Just outside of Helen on the route is the Nacoochee Indian Mound, the center of the ancient Cherokee town of Gauxule, visited by Desoto in his search for gold. Be sure to plan to stick around for beers, food and music served up at the finish line.

24 Hours at Lake Z
We are so excited to host the first timed event at Lake Z in Dahlonega! This trail is a favorite of ours and locals. Known for it's rocky and rooty sections, steep climbs and descents, with a few runnable sections, it has a little bit of everything.
Aid Station Info
We will have one fully-stocked aid station with all of the usual ultra fanfare plus some upgrades that folks have come to expect at Dumass Events races. Will there be sliders at 3am? Probably. Vegan smoothies at high noon? Sure. A full pancake breakfast at sunrise? Absolutely.
Course Description
The course is a 4.545 mile lollipop consisting of steep climbs and descents, runnable ridge lines, and a few water crossings. With ~800 feet of climbing per loop, it should be easy to get 100 miles in 24 hours, right??
Event Location
The start/finish line will be at the pavilion on the Hwy 52 side of the trail. We will have gate access for participants to load and unload their gear (we will have a tent city area). Once gear is unloaded, all vehicles we need to be parked off-site. We will be providing a shuttle to get runners to and from the parking location (TBD, but will be in town and very close).
Community Contribution
This race is something we've wanted to do for a long time and it gives us an opportunity to give back to our community. We will be giving a portion of proceeds from this race to the Lumpkin County Park and Rec scholarship fund for youth sports.

Challenge yourself with two grueling hills where America’s best soldiers are trained. Parking is abundant. Sorry about the delay, but sign-up is now open. Don't wait until the the last minute!
Fee structure
The entry fee for this run is intended to cover the cost of award metal, t-shirt, site rental, and food. There was a bit of an increase in the entry fee this year to cover cost. We do our best to keep the budget reasonable with store brand snacks. Note that the non-profit structure is a requirement for a group trail event such as this (and I have previously shown reciepts to the USFS) , so the fees are the bare cost of putting on the race. All labor and the HAE equipment use is donated to the race.
The Dragon's Spine
Yeah, you know the deal. If you know what this means, then sign up. If you don't then you probably should not.
H9 Dragon
Some new naming has been added this year to allow for multiple events under the H9 trail club. If there is interest we may consider an additional fat-ass style event - or maybe not. The traditional H9 event has been renamed to H9 Dragon to make things confusing (because the course has gotten far too easy). It is still the same stroll along the Duncan Ridge, but now you have to jump through more administrative and marketing hurdles before you arrive at Vogel. For those of us working for the government, we are always ready to help - or maybe not.
Participation
You must be a H9 trail club member to participate. This is a non-profit club event and we abide by FS rules for use of the Duncan Ridge area. So that means you have to sign-up as a member to run (at this page). Sorry about the two step process but the complexities of webforms and databases mean that membership needs to be separate from event participation in order to manage results by event and allow multiple events within the club. The costs for sign-up for the marathon or 50M are basically a pass through of costs to you. Logistical support (food, drinks, equipment rental, site rentals), t-shirt, and finisher medal are included in the day-use fee (also known as a participation fee). The finisher medals are fab'ed in local machine shop and because they are stainless steel and laser cut they are kind of pricey. However, the medals are really cool and worth every penny.
