Welcome to the "Flamingo 5K" – where the fun is as flamazing as a flock of flamingos and every step is a fiesta! Whether you're a seasoned runner, a casual jogger, or a first-time participant, this event is for you.

Highlights Include:

🦩 Flamingo 5K OR 1 Mile Frolic: Start the day surrounded by all your favorite flamingos! Want to challenge yourself with the 5K or simply strut your stuff as a group in the 1 Mile Frolic, the choice is yours!

🌟The View: This is a beach run & walk along Siesta Key Beach, so it's sure to be beautiful!!! Take LOTS of pictures!!

🌸 Breast Cancer Awareness & Celebration: This is our annual event to raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness while celebrating those magnificent Flamingos that are fighting, have survived, or are being remembered. While we are still looking for the perfect Foundation to join forces with, all the proceeds from this event will be going to help Fighting Flamingos in the Sarasota County area.

🎉 Finisher’s Medal for ALL participants: Memorialize your victory with a flamingo-themed medal, with a bonus surprise attached.

🎁 Fantastic Flamingo Swag: Every participant registered before the shirt cut off, September 23rd, will receive a gender specific tech tee. There are also some flamazing flamingo add on’s!!

Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources hosts the Sandy Claws Beach Run. Now in its 50th year, the run is a fixture in the running community of Sarasota. Set a fast pace on the hard-packed, world-renowned Siesta Beach sand in the 5K run, sanctioned by the Manasota Track Club. Or, enjoy a leisurely morning stroll along the shore in the 1-mile fun run.

Proceeds benefit “Summer in the Parks” Adopt-A-Camper scholarship fund.

Early packet pickup at New Balance Sarasota, 1872 Stickney Point Road, Thursday, Dec. 10, 3-6 p.m. or you may pick up your packet on race day before 8:10 am.

• 5K Race is chip-timed and sanctioned by the Manasota Track Club.

• Finisher medals for all participants.

• Custom awards to first through sixth place finishers in all age categories.

• Music, food and raffle prizes!

• Holiday-themed costume contest!

• Register by Nov. 20 for best price and to receive long-sleeve performance event shirt and runner goodies (no-shows forfeit these items).

The 14th Annual Andrew Monroe Memorial Scholarship 5K Run/Walk takes place on the #1 Rated Siesta Key Beach in beautiful Sarasota, Florida

The event provides scholarships for further education to Riverview High School Senior Soccer players, JROTC Cadets and Track Athletes, If there are remaining funds they will continue to grow the Sarasota Community Foundation Scholarship's in Andrew's name.

Andrew so LOVED soccer that his parents wanted to keep his legacy of education alive. He also had a heart for the unfortunate.

The event includes pre-race Starbucks coffee with a color guard and national anthem opening.

We give trophies to Overall, Masters, Grand Masters, Sr. Grand Masters, Veteran Grand Master as well as 6 deep in each category with 3 deep receiving a medal.
